I found this book while browsing Rodger's Book Barn in Hillsdale, NY this past October.
The collection includes stories by John Bayley, Mary Clive, Gabriel Fielding, Rumer Gooden, Maurice Kennedy, Rosamond Lehmann, Olivia Manning, William Plomer, J.D. Scott, Godfrey Smith, Muriel Spark, and John Wain. I admit to only recognizing Spark's name. I am also not one to read short story anthologies on a regular basis because I am usually disappointed and I don't recall

Professor John Bayley CBE, FBA, FRSL is a British literary critic and writer.

Bayley was born in Lahore, British India, and educated at Eton, where he studied under G. W. Lyttelton, who also taught Aldous Huxley, J. B. S. Haldane, George Orwell and Cyril Connolly.
