Faith Zanetti isn't covering Israel out of some kind of altruism. She's there because she got posted there by the fat drunk who is her foreign editor. And she loves it. It's hot, it's complicated, there's always some action and her friends are there, slouched at the bar of Jerusalem's American Colony Hotel.

But when Faith finds the naked corpse of her best friend, Shiv, han...more

Errrr let me think what should I say about this book,

1. Faith Zanetti is a Briton, presumably a Cockney
2. Faithy's father was killed whilst covering Bosnia (or somewhere in the former USSR regions)
3. Faithy never told anyone that her alcoholic mother once tried to kill her
4. You have to make sure children covered their ears when Faith is around, she's able to say f*ck faster than you blink
5. Faithy attracks suicide bombs, shootings, and any sort of dangers to her and that endangered everybody ne...more

The Bad News Bible is the first in the Faith Zanetti series and is my favorite so far having read the third and fourth ones. This mystery thriller dealt with a lot of current and serious issues; suicide, the Palestinian conflict, and child sex trafficking. For those of you who loved the original Prime Suspect or Cracker shows would really like these books.

This was a surprisingly gripping crime-mystery novel about the quest of an investigative journalist in Jerusalem to solve her friend's murder case. I won't give away the ending, but it's disturbing, especially if you're a parent.

Jane
another new female protagonist - to add to the list of mystery/crime solving female characters - that I like to follow. A little hard to read - because of the british slang.

A slow build up, and somewhat predictable ending. Still an entertaining read and a different take on events in the Middle East.

You'll like it Bliss because it's still being printed by a small printing company. And one day I'll tell you about how I had to get it from Vermont interlibrary loan. You think because you look it up on the library computer that computers are involved in procuring it. You would be wrong. Totally worth the wait.
Sharon
The first book in the series with Faith Zanetti, war correspondent for a British newspaper. Fast-paced.
Catherine
Daft, funny, makes me laugh alot, and think about Israel / Palestine a bit.

Boo! I couldn't even follow this book. I kept having to re-read what I already read. When I read the review someone compared it to Stephanie Plum, but it's nothing like Stephanie Plum. I decided there are too many good books to read to continue with this one.

This one started off well with the arrival of journalist Faith Zanetti in Israel. The author's description of the war-torn country and the world-weary Faith were great. And she handled the tensions nicely. What didn't work as well is the endless scenes in the bar and the very convenient ways in which she finds all her clues.

Strong, though not perfect mystery. I look forward to trying the next.

This is a perfect summer read, it's total junk food but I loved it!

'I was born in 1970 and grew up on my own with my mum while dad flew around the world to wars and summits. It was odd in those days, when most people didn’t go abroad, to be watching the news (in black and white) and taking it personally. Mum had shabby boyfriends and Dad had beautiful and glamorous girlfriends. I hated both lots. I spent most holidays in New York and Washington staying in foreign...more
