The pack of outcasts and misfits in Elk Ridge, Colorado is back, and this time the focus is on Jason, the guy who works in the diner and cooks for the pack, and Riley, a stranger from out of town. Apparently, rumors of a supposedly extinct Argent of the royal wolf-shifter line being a pack member have reached the outside world. The idea of someone uncovering what Matt and the others have just discovered and begun to deal with in book one had me as worried as the shifters were. The royal line ...more

On an assignment for a lead that’ll make his journalistic career soar, Riley Clark comes to small town Elk Ridge for one thing: to verify the existence of an Argent shifter. He’s desperate to prove it and will stop at nothing to get as much information about the local pack as he can. When he meets Jason Nichols, the chef at a local diner, he thinks he’s found someone to pass a little time with while investigating the shifters. Unfortunate

This second installment of the Strength of the Pack series is another sweet, romance with refreshingly different heroes, packed into a quick read.

Jason is a strong shifter but a shy, sensitive virgin. He is not like the other shifters that I normally read in other stories. He is not the MM romance hero- the stereotypical loner and badass fighter who struggles to be nurturing to even his mate- but instead Jason is the sweet cook who can hold his own in a fight

Perhaps due to the fact that I simply was not expecting Jason to be the inexperienced and non leading partner who comes across as a bit childish.. It's really that he's super shy like with Riley but I didn't care for Jason a whole lot for the first half or so of the book.

Once all the cards are on the table we definitely see more depth to Jason. I felt much more connected to him as a person AND as a shifter. Then of course I had to thumb through a few pages of book one to find out what Argent shi

Riley is a human journalist and sent to check out if the story of an Argent shifter is true. He meets Jason from the Pack. They hit it off and Riley gets invited to a BBQ with the Pack. The romance between Riley and Jason was sweet. Although Riley's secret comes out and Jason hurts because of it, in the end there is a HEA. Riley quits his job and joins the Pack.

Joy Lynn Fielding lives in a small English market town, where she indulges her passions for vintage aircraft, horse-riding and gardening (though not all at the same time).

Joy has a tendency to wax lyrical about the fascinating facts she discovers during her research for books. Thankfully she has a very patient Labrador who has a gift for looking interested in what she’s saying while he waits for t
