Enna Petersen has never been good at making personal decisions, what she needs is a Life GPS. At twenty-eight, she already has a tangled map of 'Could Have Beens' in her rear view mirror, and now she has hit another great gaping directional dilemma: should she fulfill her theatrical passion and save her beloved theatre from closure; or 'recalculating' say goodbye to the ...more

§Robbie’s Review§

Author Eleanor Gwyn-Jones opens her novel Theatricks as English woman Enna Petersen’s American boyfriend Cole Krupski offers a romantic proposal of marriage and gives Enna a huge engagement ring. Despite the obvious contrast between her world and Cole’s, Enna struggles mentally between being despondent at the thought of abandoning her position as an actor and director at Ashtead Theater with being deliriously happy about the prospect of a future with Cole. . .

Wow, that was a whirlwind of a story. I hated the ending. What a cliff hanger. I wanted more, I needed more. I can not wait to see how this story ends. Possibly one of the worst cliff hangers I have seen in awhile.

I think the story is incredibly relatable and easy to identify with. I think that most readers will be completely wrapped up in this story. The characters are well written and the overall plot is easy to identify with if you have ever experienced indecision or heart break.

What a great first book to a trilogy by this new author. I was instantly able to relate to the main character, who is independent in her own right and having difficulties and insecurities with her decision to move to a new country with her fiance. The author's writing style is witty and fast-paced, causing me to laugh out loud at times, and the interactions between the characters are very realistic. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, the story took a turn in a completely ...more

Eleanor Gwyn-Jones' writing is witty and enchanting. This debut novel will introduce you to a promising new voice in contemporary women’s fiction.

THEATRICKS follows Enna, a delightful character with the virtues and foibles of any self-respecting, self-doubting, independent woman. Among her loves? Cole – the doting man’s man. Will – the manic pixie dream boy. And theatre – the mercurial constant. Who/what does she choose?... Read for yourself, silly!

Can’t wait for the sequel, Ms. Gwyn-Jones!

Enna, Enna, Enna. I couldn't not like her - she's hilarious, honest, and truly good hearted - but she also makes colossally bad, emotional decisions, and this is what made her feel very real to me. It also made for a fun, witty, twisty story. Looking forward to the sequel, Jazz Hands, which is coming out really, really soon!
