The Revolution was about destroying the Church, priests and nuns were murdered, churches and schools and hospitals were closed and taken over by the state. Liberty was liberty from God's rules so that you could use "Reason" to determine what was right and wrong. Freedom from authority was freedom from God's authority ...more
A very entertaining story, that had me thoroughly engrossed. I think the author did an excellent job in the setting & accurate display of the era.

I attempted to read this book 1st (not realizing this is a sequel). I just couldn't get into it and actually gave up.
Then I discovered the 1st book 'Sanctuary for a Lady', read that one and then came back to this one.
Everything made much more sense.
So if you're interested in this book, I reallly recommend you read the 1st book, then read this one. In my opinion it just can't be read as a stand-alone book.
