The basis of the book is neatly compartmentalized and invites the reader into a thoroughly detailed and exacting chronological order of Thomas Jefferson's foreign policy decisions and how his rationale was shaped and cultivated through the primary years of governor of Virginia to serving as President George Washington's Secretary of State to becoming president of the United States himself.
