The hardest thing in the world is being a teenager. It’s harder when your father is the pastor of a major church and your mother is the first lady of that church. It’s detrimental to your health when, on top of all that, you’re struggling with your sexuality and might have a crush on someone that’s the same sex as you.

To say that I’m confused would be an understatement. I

"Heaven's Cry" by Charmaine Galloway was a good short read of a 'teenager' who had it all...clothes, good school, good godly parents that wanted what was best for her, but were these parents willing to listen to their daughter to see what was really going on with her before it was too late? This author was able to write this short story that all maybe able to re

Heaven's Cry is a short story with long meaning. It's a story about some very sensitive topics that impact our youth and adults alike. Heaven is the main characters name and is dealing with an internal battle that threatens to tear her family apart. She's a teenager going through something very serious and it's palpable throughout the book.
Heaven's father is the Pastor of a prominent church and in charge of leading his flock to the pearly gates of Heaven. This heavy burden also has connecting at

This is the story of a young lady being bullied and tormented by peers and her parents. The peers make fun of her exploration of her sexuality, while her bible wielding parents bully her with scriptures. As she faces a confusing and a trying time in her life (realizing she's in love with a friend), she also has to endure the annoyances of a much younger brat of a brother who is a constant nuisance and blabs her secret. Her parents have an idea of what she should conform to in orde

Heaven's Cry is a reflection of a lot of teenagers in one way or the other.

Heaven is a young lady who not only struggles with being tormented by her peers but also with her sexuality. Since her parents are heavily involved in the church, she has no one to turn to. All Heaven needed was someone to listen.. to hear her cry. She knows if she comes out of the closet, her parents would probably perform an exorcism on her. The teenage girl she has a crush on finally comes around and they do the unthin

Heaven's Cry was a short read and welcomed change in genre. Like we all do, as I was reading I was trying to figure out how this story would turn out before I got to the ending but I was surprised by the cruelty of everyone in this story. This story portrays a good message. You should always let your children know you have a listening ear about anything their going through. Your child should never fear you to the point that they can't tell you what's happening inside of them. I felt like I ...more

Although Heaven's Cry was short I truly enjoyed this timely story about, Heaven, a teenage girl dealing with her sexuality as well as bullying. What hurt Heaven the most she was betrayed by her best friend and the girl she loved. Her family were more concerned with how they looked in front of other which caused them to miss the warning signs that Heave was in trouble. My heart broke when I read this story.

I have to give this 4 stars only because I would have loved for it to be longer. But I truly enjoyed the story, their are so many people young and old struggling with this issue with their feelings because they don't want to be judged. Charmaine did an excellent job letting the world know that although the Bible says one thing about homosexuality, you can't help how you feel and to love your family member as well as support them. Regardless of what anyone has to say because so many parents are ...more

This story should serve as a wake-up call to every parent who thinks taking care of a child only means providing them with nice clothes or a nice home. Children need to be heard and understood. They need to feel safe and loved in their own homes. Heaven's story of being misunderstood and emotionally neglected rings true for far too many of our children. This story is moving and impactful. A must read for young adults and parents alike.

I truly enjoyed this timely story about, Heaven, a teenage girl dealing with her sexuality as well as bullying. Although it's short, it' packs a very powerful message for young adults and their parents. Told from the first-person point of view, it puts you right inside of her head and heart.

The story is filled with unexpected twist that kept me intrigued. If you want to read a story with meaning. This is the story for you! i'm disappointed that its a short story. I didn'r want it to end so soon!

In Heaven's Cry, Charmaine Galloway gives us a sad but realistic look at peer pressure, bullying, sexual preference and religion. These are huge topics that are faced by today's youth. An excellent book to be shared with children by their parents and guardians. Highly recommended.
