Free Spirit. Heart And Soul is the story of Alex Welsh, an English Cobbler who sets sail for the new world with ambitions of expanding his business on American soil. Moving from the relatively civil streets of England to the wild and dangerous plains of the wild west, Alex discovers more than just gunslingers and tumbleweeds.

A wonderful western story mixed with some clever spiritual fantasy elements. Free Spirit takes you on an exciting journey of love, loss, sorrow, friendship and the classic g

This is a western with a difference. Alex Walsh, a 32-year-old Englishman, sets off in 1875 with his daughter to set up a cobbler business in America. On the voyage over, he meets Mr Ford, a cattle rancher, and his daughter, Susan, the love interest of the tale. The town they settle in has been taken over by the Black Hand Gang in preparation for a major train heist. Through curious episodes involving thundering hooves and snatches of blue ethereal smoke, Alex eventually comes into contact with ...more

Free Spirit is an interesting and entertaining combination of wild west meets native American fantasy.

When Alex moves from London to America with his daughter in an attempt to expand his shoe-making business, nothing prepares him for the wildness or danger of the life he discovers. Settling into a town dominated by a cruel gang, Alex's life becomes bathed in danger as he takes on the gang in order to ensure the safety of his daughter, as well as Susan, the woman he has fallen in love with.

I liked this book very much. Free Spirit is different from everything else I have read and was a pleasant surprise. It's a fantasy story with a native american twist.
Alex, the main character, gets beaten up badly and enters the spirit world, where he learns about magic which he then takes with him back to the real world.
It's a good story and well worth a read.
