I received this book as a Goodreads First Reads giveaway.

I really wanted to like this book. The premise, a country singer named Rick "Dusty" Rhodes, who learns that he has a young son only after the boy's mother is killed in an accident, has the potential to deal with the very sensitive issues of trying to grow a relationship after so many critical years have been lost. I received this book free from a GoodReads giveaway. a signed copy even. Unfortunately it was probably the worst book I have ever read. The only thing I liked about this book, was the main character was a likable guy. However, there was so much I didn't like. Even if I had agreed with her views, I still would not have liked the book. Not only did she drill ...more

I won this book on Goodreads...this book had so much promise with the characters, the plot, the writing style for the first part of the book. But then the author flooded the book with "preaching" her offbeat ideas for life which are delusional and ineffective rather than having the characters meet their challenges effectively and victoriously with the truths that their Creator placed in them and made clear in His Word (the Bible). So, the result was a story that depressed rather than lifted up.
