I read this book not for what the author had to say about the subject, but out of an anthropological interest in archaeology at the time it was written. For the time period in which it was published, the book is a great text. For modern readers it is outdated, but still relevant to anyone interested in anthropology and archaeology. It reveals certain biases and ideas of the age that I, personally, find fascinating and I'm glad I stumbled across it at my local library.
