I picked this book up because Pazzi is credited as being of similar style to Italo Calvino, who in my opinion is a genius. This book certainly had some Calvino-esque elements, but I found many parts of it to be pretty slow and dragging. The book is about George Romanov, brother of the last Tsar of Russia, Nicholas. The book just seemed...overly pretentious. I understand that we were supposed to be in the mind of the character, who is quite pretentious, but his pretentiousness got quite boring, as he is in fact a very boring man. I'm not sure if the translation is off, but sometimes it appeared as if it were so as certain things didn't make sense. Not my kind of book, which is unfortunate, because the writer seems like he has potential.
