A very detailed, thorough look at the titled subject. Probably not a book, however, that many are going to run across outside academic study... Nonetheless a valuable resource, clearly written and incorporating a rather impressive amount of political and economic theory into the framework of history. Dr. Li uses the records of disputes before the county-magistrate in the Hailu region to great illustrative effect.
