Whew! This is a very surprising novel because it is so intense and laced with lots of secondary characters and subplots. Too many IMO. I would have rather had fewer family messes/events happening and more about the 3 main characters and their relationship. In fact I wouldn’t even call this an erotica novel. Yeah, there’s a lot of sex in it, but it’s not terribly descriptive, romantic, or erotic like the cover suggests. So don’t judge this novel by its awesome cover.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster. The book is not so much about the menage but about the consequenses of bringing another person into the marriage bed. It's not lighthearted reading, it will actually make you think.

Alex takes Anne's breath away with his looks and wins her over with his personality. What starts as an easy friendship between Anne and Alex, turns into an innocent flirtation, then more. Then one night the three of them decide to take their relationship to the next level and give into the sexual tension that has been filling the air. The three of them take each other to bed, one night then turns into one summer.

A normally monogamous couple, Anne and James choose to give into their desires for a summer of sex. They choose to let fantasy become reality. But what is supposed to be a summer of mindless passion, no strings attached, gets complicated as emotions and hearts become involved and feelings change.

I liked Anne, James and Alex, I liked them separately and I liked the three of them together. I like Anne and James. I liked Anne and Alex. But I hated James and Alex. When it was just the two of them they reverted to adolescent behavior I couldn't stand. They were two different people together and though they enjoyed each other's company it was easy to see no one else would. I guess that's the whole point; how we are different things to different people, multifaceted creatures. The other point would be the fact that there is no such thing as 'no strings attached.'

Okay, I admit I was expecting just a bit of mindless porn on paper, of the highest quality of course, but I am really surprised at the depth of emotions that this book covered. It explores, confronts and dissects relationships between lovers, spouses, friends, sisters, in-laws and parents; the threads that create and make up relationships, their strengths and their fragilities.

This is a highly erotic and sensual tale. When these three people go to bed they worship every inch of each other's bodies and thoroughly. It's bold, graphic, explicit and delicious, but never tasteless. It's not for everyone, that's for sure, but had it not been for the ending, one I completely disagreed with, this well written tale would have easily been a 5 star book; I loved every page of it.

This is the third of Megan's Spice books and like Dirty and Broken, it's a disturbing, engaging, intense and emotional read. It could just be me but I don't really think that blurb does the book justice. The book isn't about James and Alex so much although they're both integral to the plot. It's about Anne.

Anne is a compelling character because she's so real. She's a wife, she's got to deal with her in-laws, her household, her job, her life, her husband. She loves her life and then ...more

I enjoyed the realness of this story. I know that inviting a 3rd into the bedroom is not common, but the feelings that transpired seemed real to me. The ending irritated me a little, but not enough for me to not like the book.

I thought the story was very sensuous and erotic and had some pretty raw emotional moments, which made the sex less like porn and more like real people with real feelings.

I too hated the ending, but if you take your marriage vows seriously- the til death do us part, no matter what happens in between,- I couldn't wish for Anne to leave her husband. I was so wishing Anne and Alex had just done what they wanted while her husband was out. Really, that kind of restraint in James' absence ...more

The Players and a little history:
For this story, I believe you have to understand the past to understand the future…

Anne - Daughter, sister and wife.
Her mother, the best way I can describe her is a very passive person. She raised her four daughters the best she knew how. It is a tale about Anne and James Kinney. They are happily married. Anne and James have a great sex life that many would envy but it seems that there might be something missing. Alex Kenndy is James's best friend. He has been living in Singapore and is now coming back to the States for a visit. Alex will be staying with James and Anne. Ugh. So much squandered potential here. A romance novel about a threesome should really be more jubilant, but the tone of this one is just so bleak and melancholy. Yes there are Important Emotions to be dealt with, and the subplot with Anne's family gives the story some depth, but even the romance stuff was morose instead of joyful. the author handles the consequences of this husband/wife/husband's friend menage extremely well. Not just a 'boink fest' - the characters had real concerns and conflicts.

Pretty good book. Alex comes to visit James and Anne. Anne is attracted to Alex. James is willing to share. Strange ending. I think that Anne fell in love with Alex and if not for her obligation and feelings for James, she may have left.
