"Writing is an act of faith." I am not sure who said that, but I keep the quote, along with a few others, at eye level over my desk. Faith is a short word with a huge impact. Faith is also something I like to write about; not the religious kind of faith, but the spiritual kind that we use as the thread that keeps us us sown to this life.

I was thrown off my writers path many years ago, and put on a road I would have not chosen. I experienced the life of a single mother and do not recommend single parenting for any reason. Of course like so many of our unplanned detours this one built character and taught me lessons I guess I needed learning. I found that the way to recover my ability to write was in a journal. From there I wrote essays for the local newspaper and other small publications. The idea for a novel came in a dream and it took me five years to finish. So many people asked me when I would be finished that once completed I plunged into self-publishing just to get it out to family and friends. That book "Swan Boat Souvenir" was my brave attempt at novel writing. It did well locally but its real purpose was to inspire me to write "Belly Of The Whale".

I began "Belly Of The Whale" in long hand on yellow legal pad. Writing started at five in the morning and went from the dining room table, to the side lines at soccer games, in fast-food restaurants, in hotels during soccer tournaments and at work during my lunch hour. It evolved from a stack of papers in my backseat to a disk on a computer. By then the last of my children was out of college and I "disappeared" for nine months (except to go to work) to finish it. I spent many weekends never getting out of my jammies but it was worth every minute.

Kunati makes dreams come true and "Belly Of The Whale" is being released in Spring 08.
