Wow! What an impressive book.

The final section on Bible codes is, despite the author's enthusiasm, the least compelling part of the argument. I've taught statistics for too long to be convinced by this without having a lot of questions answered first. For a start, Hebrew names tend to be just a few letters long, since vowels are lacking. So finding a name across an equidistant letter gap (when that gap in sequence can be almost any length) is hardly surprising. While it looks impressive to have

I liked this book a lot, I'd give it a 3.5 stars. This book went into territory that other apologetic books don't go. It also had some interesting claims in history/archeology that I want to research more. Awkwardly the author devotes to much time in the last 1/3rd of the book to "bible codes." For me at least it ruined the continuity of the book I and while interesting it's intense speculation at best. A professor in an introduction to the Old Testament class in college was the first to introduce the idea to me that the Bible could be flawed or fictional due to its seeming contradictions and the fact that it was potentially distorted by centuries of human re-recording. I remember how this comment enraged some of the students in the class who'd been brought up with a strong biblical based faith.
