5 Stars!! Another great read for a series that never disappoints and an author who always delivers!!

J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts does it again. She manages to write another engaging mystery with characters that are familiar, and seem to develop with each book. In this one, the relationship between Eve and Peabody solidifies itself, it was always a good one, but a defining moment not only strengthens their partnership, but also their friendship. Eve opens up to Peabody and she finally realizes how much...more

Another standout in the In Death series. It is still summer in the city, and young women walk their dogs near the park enjoying the evening. But for one young woman that pleasant pastime is cut horribly short. Lt. eve Dallas is pleased that she hasn't shot or assaulted any of her husbands rich, eccentric, business partners at a soirée, but as she and Roarke head home she is paged to the homicide of a young woman found in Central Park near Belvedere Castle. The young woman has been beaten and mut...more

Book Review: 2 Treasure Boxes

Who is murdering women and stealing their eyes? Can a psychic really help Dallas find the brutal murderer? Lieutenant Eve Dallas stands for the victims. She and her team will work tirelessly to find and stop whoever is committing these horrendous crimes.

To date there are 43 books in the In Death series, with one more expected to be released in September of 2012. These books are crime drama, suspense and romance because they focus on the case Eve is currently working...more

Visions in Death is the 19th installment of Nora Robert’s futuristic In Death series written under the name J.D. Robb.

The summer of 2059 seems like it will never end. While Eve and Roarke are on their way back home from an event in Chicago, Eve gets called to a case. Elisa Maplewood had been brutally attacked, raped, and murdered in Central Park. Then, she was placed on the rocks overlooking the lake, nude, with her hands posed to look as if she’s in prayer an...more

Rather than go back and review every in death book I scanned or added in, I am reviewing just this one because this was the first one I read. Now I own every single one of them all 30 whatever. I was a little peeved about the price of the newest e book. Only a dollar less than the hard back but In Death is one of my splurge books and what can you do...... I digress.....

I am an investigator myself and these books draw me in. I find myself saying WOW I wish I had that!!! Although it's sad to think...more

Elisa Maplewood had been brutally attacked, raped, and murdered in Central Park. She was placed on the rocks overlooking the lake with her hands posed as if she’s in prayer and then her killer surgically removed her eyes and took them with him.

Eve is called into the case on her way home from a function with Roarke. The next day a physic, Celina Sanchez, calls Eve to say she has seen the whole murder in her dreams. She appears to have details the police have not yet released. Eve, very reluctantl...more

A woman is found naked in the park, brutally raped and murdered. The red ribbon she's been strangled with is tied around her neck, and her eyes have been cut out. Like all sexual assault cases, the case hits Lieutenant Eve Dallas hard. When it becomes clear that they have a serial killer on their hands, the stakes become higher, and Eve and Peabody have to work to stop him before another woman loses her life.

Eve is approached by a psychic, who claims she saw the murder taking place. While Dallas...more

I haven't read a novel in a long time because it is really hard to find all pf J.D.Robbs books at the local libraries. In fact, I had to get this at an old book store that sold second hand books. I liked the twist ending and how this book feels a little like a horror movie, " Fear itself" has an episode of a serial murderer.
Peabody plays a good part in this book as well as the other well loved minor characters. Roarke is absolutely supportive and loving as usual. I do wish that the books can be...more

This is probably only the second Robb I've tried. First one must have been from early in the series as there was a lot more description of future technology and I think she had just met Roarke. This one had very little futuristic content- just little things like the use of more advanced communication and diagnostic tools than in a contemporary procedural. There was also a good mix of the police work and Eve's private life. The only thing I disliked was the little "Aha!" bit at the end that seem...more

Who’s raping, strangling, then removing the eyes of his/her victims? That’s the question Lt. Eve Dallas must answer to find the culprit. And why did the murderer take the victims eyes? What story is he, or she, trying to tell?

Eve Dallas is one of my favorite kick butt police officers.

For anyone who hasn’t experienced Eve Dallas, it’s time.

There are many elements to like about the Death series. With each installment we experience Eve grow out of victim hood into a healthy woman and though she sti...more

I've been reading this futuristic series by JD Robb for years, off and on. The characters are old friends by now, and their personalities are endearing and sometimes outright comical.

In this book, Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her partner, Detective Delia Peabody are searching for a serial killer who preys on women of a certain physical type, beating, raping, and then mutilating them. With the help of her "civilian consultant" husband, Roarke, and an unexpected new source, a psychic named Celina Sa...more

Again, I'm on vacation, and I read this utter fluff on the train ride home. This time, the sexy mystery involves a psycho who is raping and killing women, mutilating their eyes, and a psychic sensitive lady comes to Eve Dallas to help her out in the case. Not really trusting psychic information, Eve and her detective partner, Peabody, go after the nasty man and in the end... well, as you imagine, they figure it out, Eve has explosive sex with her husband Roarke, and things tie up neatly. And the...more

While I did enjoy the 18th installment in Robb’s In Death Series, it didn’t get the 5 star rating her previous books received because while all the ingredients which make this series a must read were present, they were sparsely applied & left me with a somewhat bland though filling read.

The series revolves around a member of the NYPSD, Lt Eve Dallas in 2059, New York and her struggle to find justice for the victims of crimes she’s faced with daily while maintaining her sanity and strength....more

I have to admit that I didn't care for this series in the beginning, but it has grown on me. I thought it was too graphic and disturbing. It's still graphic and disturbing. But now I like it, and it is hard not to pick up another just as soon as I finish one of them. I've read 11 of them so far; #32 just came out this week. This one, Vision, is probably one of the best. I thought I had it figured out, I usually do, but it had a surprise ending in the last few pages.
These are murder mysteries, b...more

I have to say this one was my favorite thus far. I don't think this book would be as enjoyable if one didn't read the entire series from the start. This book stands alone; however, knowing the characters after 20 books, gives one an appreciation for them. I really enjoyed the plot and how Eve handled the police procedures, her friendships with people she works with and of course, the glimpse into the future is always fun to read about, at least it's not all gloom and doom with the in death serie...more

I started out as an avid Nora Roberts reader, and figured that with as much as I loved her books, that I'd equally enjoy what she wrote as JD Robb.

Little did I realize just how much I would love all things JD Robb.

I've read quite a few books in the IN DEATH series, and have enjoyed all of them, each for their own reasons.

VISIONS IN DEATH was a little on the creepier side. I mean really? Women being raped and having their eyes cut out???? Kinda twisted, right? But the writing remained tasteful,...more

I can't get enough of this series and I'm still so glad I so many more to read at this point. Each title layers on more with the characters and the story lines are just so incredible. I never fail to not connect with something that JD Robb/Nora has written about. This time I was move to tears because Eve felt for the first time she had friends... true friends that rocked her world and were there when she needed them. Eve took a step back and evaluated her life and what all these people really, t...more

Eve is back in the murder game, this time, she's got the inside scoop, so to speak. A friend of Louise DiMatto's claims to see the murders through the eyes of the killer. She's psychic. A fact that seems to be calmly believed by many of the characters in this book. An interesting twist.
But the crux of the matter is that there are women in their early thirties who are being murdered in public parks and then their eyes are gouged out. The other clue that links them: a red ribbon around their throa...more

With a terrible serial killer and a surprise twist at the end, the plot was well above the expected. The cast of characters were, as always, amazing. Peabody and McNab get special emphasis in this book but Mira, Morris, Whitney, Tibble, Feeney, Baxter, Charles, Louise, Mavis and Leonardo get their fair share of time. Lots of wonderful visualizations and scenes as usual. Eve filling Peabody in on her childhood and its ramifications on the job, Peabody getting a kiss from Roarke (Who needs drugs?)...more

Although the theme of this book in the continuing series about Lt. Eve Dallas is again gruesome, the book is enjoyable because Eve is beginning to understand the value of friendship and taking time for herself. A serial killer has been attacking young women in the parks of New York City when a "psychic" visits Lt. Dallas at the police station to offer her help. There are the usual chases, electronic research and interviews putting various members of the police force in jeopardy. The reader sees a...more

Visions In Death is the next book in the series and was another strong addition to this series. In this book, Eve is up against a killer who is killing young women and removing their eyes. With little to go on, Eve may be on her most difficult case yet especially when she begins to work with a pyschic who seems to be having visions relating to the murders. Peabody played a more prominent role in this one which was a nice change. Plus, I just love the dynamics between her and Eve so I had a fun t...more

I read #20 before this one so expected that the psychic would turn out to be doing something naughty but that was not revealed until the last 3 pages. Kept me glued because I could not see how she would end it.

Always a pleasurable read. I can switch off from studies and everyday issues. J.D. Robb knows the psyche of criminals and what makes each novel in this series interesting is the amount of detail around the setting of story. In Visions' case it was knowledge of handcrafts. She researches h...more

I never get tired of the books in this series. Roberts writing as J.D. Robb never disappoints and this installment is no exception.

The murders in this book were a little disturbing, but nothing worse than we read in the news, and it was written and played out as masterfully as Roberts always does. Her plot development combined with the development of characters that readers of this series can't get enough of, is fully on display in this book.

There are some shocking and upsetting things that happ...more

This case was an exceptional one. It was one of the best until now.
What I love most about this series is the opportunity to see how Eve evolves as a character and a person. Well, it isn't just about Eve. I love to see the evolution of every important character in the series.
Eve and Roarke, as a couple is the most important one. To see them adapt to their married status, is wonderful and fun.

McNabb and Peabody, they're my favourite couple right alongside Eve and Roarke. They li...more

Now that Eve and Peabody are partners, Eve finally tells Peabody about her early childhood. The case of the week involves a serial killer who had an equally tortured childhood. Eve and Roarke talk about how they used their childhood to push themselves to stand for victims, rather than make new victims. Roarke's contribution is a shelter for abused women and children. Eve visits it for the first time, and almost looses it seeing a fragile little girl with a broken arm.

On the light and fun side, P...more

Nora Roberts, (writing as J.D.Robb) has crafted a hard hitting, female detective series that consistently one ups itself and always finds a place at the top of the best seller charts and Visions In Death is no exception.

The year is 2059 and New York City Detective, Eve Dallas is called to Central Park to investigate the murder of Elisa Maplewood. Arriving in an expensive gown and heels, Dallas seems as out of place as the horrific scene she and partner, Detective Peabody pour over. Carefully an...more

I love Nora Roberts' ...In Death Series. I bought the first one the minute it was published and have religiously read them since. But I have to admit this book did not hook me. If this were the first In Death book, I'd think it completely rocked. But it is like, what, the 19th and we've read this story before.

A member of Eve's inner circle gets seriously hurt and Eve blames herself - check.

I loved this book. I thought it was th3e best of the series so far! I'm most delighted reading a book that has twists and turns I do not see coming. It was exciting, frightening, tense. I'm not going to give the plot away at all because I do not want to spoil one page for anyone. Let's just say that I really could not put it down. I was up really late reading after I had read the book all day. I got to the last 3 pages and I kept falling asleep and dropping the book. I had to give up then! That...more

since this is book #19, there is probably some reason for it to be set in 2059--otherwise, it doesn't seem to show much change in the way that police detectives work. it turns out that the main character, police lieutenant eve dallas herself suffered from brutal acts done by her father. a while ago i read a book where the bad guy got his jollies by removing the eyes of his victim, and this one does, too. it is pretty well written, but i don't know if i have to read any more with the same charact...more
