"And must one kiss
Revoke the silent house, the birdsong wilderness?" - Sylvia Townsend Warner

"I am a woman remembering a dream, trying to read the letter.
It is no use.
The language is foreign.
It comes from the place where one falls into gravity and knows weight.
I am a woman remembering a dream and wanting to go back there into that rain again."
Kirsten
There's some real gems in this collection, but overall for some reason 1993 just doesn't seem to have been as strong a year for short fiction. It WAS fun to rediscover some stories I totally remembered reading in OMNI when I was 13, though.
