Imagine being secluded in the wilderness, in an unfamiliar environment, with individuals half your age, whose core values and lifestyle are diametrically opposed to your own. How is one to react if a deluge of inappropriate behaviour, creating a highly perilous environment, rages, uncontrolled, due to ineffective leadership? What if your concerns about said conduct go ...more

This book has probably been one of the worst pieces of writing I've ever read. My main problem is the way that this story was written. Within the first chapter I noticed that the author has a very large vocabulary. This would usually be a good thing, however it seemed like he used every possible opportunity to throw in an abnormal adjective. This (for lack of a better word) clogged up the flow of the story. The author's awkward choice in words often caused the entire point of the sentence to ...more

Awesome book! Totally addictive! A work of substance with strong, powerful messages about humanity. It grabbed hold of me, & never let go. I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next, & many times, I was quite surprised. This book really shows the importance of responsible leadership and how tragic things can get when it's lacking.

Amazing writing; everything was so vividly described, it was like I was there, experiencing it myself.

I'd love to read more from this talented writer.

Happy Campers is an amazing book! I highly recommend it. It's really well-written, & very engrossing. There were many unexpected events & major revelations that kept me hooked. I often felt like I was back at camp again, except the situation at this camp is really messed up; it raises some serious concerns about what occurs at camp.

Read this book. You'll love it!

Just finished reading Happy Campers. I didn't know what to expect, since it's by a new author and a small publisher, but I absolutely loved it! It starts off a bit slow, with background information, but quickly warms up, and once it does- wow! It really grabs you, and keeps you interested in the story & the characters. It's quite a moving story, & not what you'd expect from a novel set at a camp- this book deals with serious issues that you would rarely read about, but there are funny ...more

A Great Novel 1 5 Sep 16, 2013 07:28PM
Originally from Ottawa, Canada, I am an experienced high school English teacher. I am an alumnus of Tel Aviv University (Overseas Student Program), Carleton University, and the University of Windsor. This book, my debut novel, was inspired by my experience as camp photographer at one camp, issues of alcohol and drug abuse at overnight camps generally, and classic works of literature. I live in ...more
