I liked Rudy, he's overweight and not all that thrilled with his looks, he doesn't have great self-esteem but he's a nice guy.
I liked Wes for the majority or the book too, he's sweet and kind of shy and really does care for Rudy.
I like the friends to lovers trope and I like when the sex scenes are few and far between and not really on page. But
I am not a fan of the major conflict point of this story (view spoiler)

There is nothing exactly wrong with this little story but it does not really convince me.
It is sweet and romantic but it is also frail: frail is the supernatural element that works as a background and frail is the characterization of the leads, especially Rudy who acts more like an insecure teenager than like the insecure adult he is supposed to be.

This story is simply to short and to undeveloped. Overall the storyline wasn't pulling. The main plot was boring and plain. I wasn't emotionally moved by the main couple.

Design by the Sea is a wonderfully sweet romantic story about two men, friends from childhood, who reconnect through work. Rudy, sweet but insecure about his appearance and desirability due to past rejections, has always carried a bit of a flame for his friend Wes. Wes is overwhelmed by the unexpected burden of organizing the museum that was willed to him unexpectedly. Who better to reach out to for help than his old friend Rudy, the interior designer? As the museum project develops so does ...more

Short read, I found it silly. But I'm use to harder material...the writing had no mistakes and good sentence structure, but I couldn't get into the story or find the characters interesting. They were rather wooden. Two men who knew each other in high school meet up again to help one set up a museum. There's a cursed jewel in their way to happiness.

I really liked this one, it's short but sweet :)

Wes hired Rudy to work on his inherited museum as interior designer, they're old friends and while working together become much more.

There is also some old amulet involved that may or may not be cursed...

The MC's are well sweet and Hollis's writing easy, fun and as always non-porny but really enjoyable.

This was a sweet little story about two old friends reuniting after several years and admitting their attraction for each other and falling in love. I've read a lot of books by the author recently and this wasn't my favourite I must say, however I did still enjoy it and will definitely read more.
