Vince Flynn fans who have already read the superior Transfer of Power and Term Limits
Vince Flynn is certainly not fine dining. But, damn it, sometimes you just want a big greasy bacon cheeseburger with fries, a Coke, and a chocolate sundae to top it off. The Third Option was that greasy cheeseburger and Coke, I was well on my way to a “four star” indulgence when, sadly, this time, I got to the last couple of chapters and learned Vince was out of ice cream and there would be no sundae. The Third Option was, until the rather disappointing ending, a satisfying indulgence. I...more

This second Mitch Rapp novel has got serious, annoying problems.
3rd Option – I did not like this 3rd book in the series. Anna, who has become Mitch's love interest, is an idiot and gets herself taken by the bad guys. Mitch wants to quit and marry her. This whole idea of Mitch in a real romance does not work for me. Bad guy Sen. Hank Clark gets away in the end. Flynn tries to connect all the people in previous books, like a dumb romance novel. Recurring character Scott Coleman assists him, ...more

I suppose its my own fault for taking a book recommendation from conservative talk radio. But they made it seem like this whole series, centering on CIA killer Mitch Rapp, was "24" in book form. Well it isn't. The characters are boring and one-dimensional. The dialogue is cheesy and cliche. The attempts at sex scenes are downright embarrassing to read. And the two or three action sequences scattered in between were not enough to make up for all that. Plus this book has a complet...more

A great read... Like all Vince Flynn's books. Once I started I couldn't put it down. If you like the good guy beats bad guy spy type espionage counterterrorism fictional stories.

This is part of a series that features Mitch Rapp. You get sucked in to this character. The twists and turns in this book keep you going. You can almost hear the theme to Mission Impossible playing throughout the book!

Another great Mitch Rapp book. I'd give it 4 1/2 stars if I could - not 5 this time because there were a few details I caught that were a little off and I hate to be distracted by such things. Also, I don't want to spoil the ending but it wasn't nearly as satisfying as usual. Seems like at this point Mr. Flynn had realized he had a series on his hands and was more interested in stringing the reader into the next book than completing his story's arc. Argh. On to the next one, though...it wor...more

This is my kind of thriller! Corruption at its worst in DC. A very well thought out plot of counter-terrorism. The author, Vince Flynn, does a great job with Mitch Rapp and his character. If you like your hero's to kick butt all the way to the end, this is an intriguing political adventure with a whole load of lovable and detestable players that you will find very interesting. It will make you ask, once again, what REALLY happened to Vince Foster and his supposed suicide of 1993.

I was looking for an author similar to James Patterson and Vince Flynn's book reminded me a lot of Patterson's style... give it a try!

Minor typos you wouldn't notice unless you are into firearms and anti-terrorism. My father and I are currently reading/finishing this series.
