I will be honest.....I wasn't sure how to rate this book. This was a very short read that takes place over only a few hours. The relationship is sort of already established (they had experienced love and loss) now it was just getting back together so they could get their HEA. Was the road easy? Nope. Only thing in their way was a crazy ex husband, a cyborg brother, and a few newly created zombies. No pressure right?!

As I was reading, I kept having the thought, this could be a great book if the z
A Bloody Good Story

Well, I will say this – I have never read a zombie book before, but I am really glad I read this one!!! It was awesome! It follows two people who were engaged – at least until he called it off just days before the wedding about 4 years ago – who meet up again when Jason needs to some help from Ceri. I won’t say too much more as I think you need to read it and enjoy it without any spoilers from me. I loved the creativity that Michelle uses to create the zombies – are they reall

General: I want to start with a critique of the book that for me may be the part that dragged the book down the most. The title. The title is by far the hardest part as an author. But this one does not represent the book to me in anyway. Had I not read the blurb I would have expected a magical book - not an apocalyptic type. For me, I was torn between the review for this book because I believe in maki

This was definitely and interesting zombi/love story. It starts out with love lost and leads you to believe the story is about second chances. Jumps to a family death indicating cyborg research and illegal medical testing. Next thing you know we have an unstable ex husband intent on unleashing zombies on his ex wife to remove her from the picture. I have to say it was an original way to get rid of an ex spouse but very costly. As a short story goes it was packed full of a lot of information, act ...more

(This is a short story/novella. This review is not based on story length but story content as length has very little to do with how much I enjoy a book.)

An interesting, twisted tale about zombies, their creation, their uprising, and a couple's desperation to survive it to save what remains of their family.

This isn't a story about the first zombie apocalypse; it's about the second. And told in first person, I was given front row seats t

This was a somewhat normal scenario that quickly spiraled out of control.... Oh who am I kidding - this was not a normal scenario. Ex-wife, Ceri, going to see ex-husband, Russell, about his visitation with their daughter Skye. Runs into ex-fiance, Jason, and his father, Max, who also wants to see her ex-husband - to try to get the body of his brother Peter back. Peter was hurt on the night of Jason's bachelor party - only Jason had opted to spend the evening with Ceri. He feels that Peter's acci ...more
In Wish Upon a Star by Michelle McLean, Ceri was not looking forward to meeting with her controlling ex-husband about their custody agreement. But when she walked into his office, she certainly wasn't expecting a chain of events that would set into motion the potential for a second zombie apocalypse.

'It was like some twisted game of Spin-the-Bottle, only instead of a kiss the winner got their face eaten off.'

Cyborgs, zombies, and Las Vegas! Oh my! That is the unexpected set up for Wish Upon a Star, and it's a good one! Ceri is spending the day with her daughter and mother at Pleasure Island before heading to a meeting with her ex-husband to discuss custody and visitation. Then she runs into her ex-fiance, Jason, who also happens to be there to talk to her ex-husband about a few things. It turns out that Russell is holding his dead brother's body hostage, for some

This was a short paranormal romance story between Ceri and Jason.

Ceri is in town to deal with her un-kind ex husband. However, while in town she hears/sees Jason. The love of her life always! He broke her heart 4 years ago and despite the pain she has felt since she has always wished they would get together again. However, Jason needs her help to talk to her ex.. but when they get to where the Ex works, things happen and who knows if anything between them can be resolved when there is now a Zom

This is a short story about a second chance romance. It started a bit slow for me, but when they got into Ceri’s ex-husbands offices the action started and didn’t stop. The story basically revolves around Ceri and Jason trying to save her daughter during a zombie outbreak. While fighting their way up the building and back they both wonder what if? Do they try again?

Ceri hasn’t seen Jason for five years, ever since he called of their wedding. In those years she married a very crazy man
Even though he broke off their engagement just days before the wedding, Ceci has always wanted ex-fiancé Jason to come back. She gets her wish but he has ulterior motives. While waiting to see her ex-husband, Russell, to talk about custody arrangements regarding their daughter, Jason and his father, Max, stumble upon Ceci. It would seem that his brother Peter was a cyborg experiment gone bad and Russell won't release the body, claiming that he owns more of Peter than his family does.

Wish Upon A Star is about Ceri and Jason meeting again after five years. Ceri has married Russell after a rebound from Jason and now is meeting with her ex-husband Russell over the custody of their daughter Skye. Jason and his father Max went to see Russell to reclaim his brother Peter for proper burial. Upon seeing each other, Ceri and Jason have a lot of regret from that night.

Jason has blamed himself for being with Ceri instead of being with his brother Peter on his bachelor's party. Due to
This is the first book that I have read by Michelle McLean. I do not read anything that sounds like it may lean toward horror, but since this is also a romance story I wanted to see what it was about. I’m so glad I read this. It’s a really good action packed story that kept me reading until the end because I could not wait to find out what would happen next.

I read nothing about this novel before I started it......what a surprise it was! Jason Crickett and Ceri McKinley were engaged to be married. Jason was the love of her life. Three days before the wedding his brother Peter was in a terrible accident, not expected to live. Jason canceled the wedding, and she never saw him in the four years since, until today. Ceri was with her daughter Skye and her Mom to visit her ex-husband Russell Saxton. A millionaire business man, who has not really

I am not a fan of zombies. AT ALL. I don't watch them on TV. I don't usually enjoy reading zombie/apocalyptic books. AT ALL. Having said all that, I signed up for this and one other zombie/apocalyptic book. Why? Why would I do this? What made me think that I would enjoy these zombie books? The answer - the side story.

I am a total sucker (no pun intended) for a Happily Ever After, especially one of a couple that ha

You ever read one of those books that shocks you? Like you go back to read the summary to make sure you’re reading the same thing being advertised? This was one for me. I expected zombies…I expected an old-flame reunion with perhaps a little romance. What Wish Upon A Star surprised me with, though, was an action-packed adventure that kept me flipping pages until the very end.

Maybe one of these days I’d get it through my thick skull that wishes hardly eve

"Notorious Criminal Peter Crickett Gunned Down in Robbery Gone Bad"

Four years ago, Peter was in a horrific car crash that left him for dead, until Russell Saxton stepped in. Russell was the owner of Saxton Technologies and Peter's father was a research scientist there. "Despite federal regulations forbidding the testing of cyborg prosthetics on human subjects...Peter had become the world's only living cyborg, more machine than man, but still...a living, breathing, functioning member of society."

Definitely in a zombie-loving mood (without actually loving the zombies, if you get my drift). This book took on a surprising slant for me, but I can’t really go into why without some spoilers in it. I have to say, Ceri’s ex-husband (as opposed to the ex-fiance/hero Jason) took the cake for being an asshole, and definitely got what he deserved.

I really liked the zombie aspect of things, and felt Ms. McLean fairly portrayed what the military would likely do if they’d gotten the zombie threat to t

Ceri McKinley has brought her young daughter Skye to Pleasure Island, one of Las Vegas's hottest locations. She's already feeling nervous, because her ex, Russell Saxton, owner of both Pleasure Island and research facility Saxton Technologies, has been showing more interest in Skye lately and she's worried about what that might mean. Russell's a powerful man, and in Ceri's own words has "mad-scientist-criminal mastermind tendencies and total moral and eth
This book is trying to be a lot of things. A lot of things. Including: a Pinocchio homage, a zombie adventure, a tiger-mother story, a romance novel. And all in less than a hundred pages. It's a tall order, and for the most part I felt like the story was...perfunctory. Insert last name "Crickett" here. Insert zombie attack here. Insert cliffhanger here. Insert plot moppet here. Insert tearful love scene here. And they all lived happily ever after the end.

It wasn't painful to read, and it's so sh

Now Wish Upon a Star I did really like. I don't normally go for reunited lovers, but hey this story worked for me. Ceri McKinley always dreamed her ex-fiancé, Jason Crickett, would always return. Even though he broke her heart by dumping her right before their wedding. Jason needs a favor and Ceri is the only one to really help him. So, they go talk to Ceri crazy ex-husband to see if he would give Jason and his father his brother so they can give him a proper burial. Li
Ceri is out with her mother and daughter at Pleasure Island, an amusement park. There Ceri bumps into her ex-lover, Jason. Jason wants to talk to Ceri for a few minutes. It is about a wanted criminal named Peter Crickett. The criminal is Jason’s brother. It seems that Jason’s family was working on a huge break though in technology and artificial organs. Something went wrong and Peter is dead. Ceri’s ex-husband plays a part. Things are about to get interesting.

This a story about zombies with lots of action and romance.

The characters in the story immediately catch the reader’s attention engaging them in the story until the very end. On a visit to her ex-husband, Ceri is asked to help the man who jilted her, Jason. What they discover in the office of her ex is a truly diabolical plot of greed and power using zombies.

The action is well written and the author describes it vivid detail making it easy for the reader to picture the Jason and Ceri’s race for
