I hadn't ever read any of the Father Brown tales, but I'd heard of them. I picked this up last week, and I have to say that I am really enjoying it.
The tales are short, usually just a few pages, but a lot of fun. Father Brown is sort of like Sherlock Holmes, in the sense that he uses his powers of observation, but also penetrates the minds of the criminals he catches through his intense knowledge of human nature, gained from hearing confessions.

Nobody does notice the postman. Chesterton is a keen observer of 'us.' Always a bit of a moral included, as well as a word or two of true wisdom. Though the stories are dated in their physical social setting, they are a bit more than just fun reads. Recommended.

I really plan on reading as much G.K. Chesterton as I can. I love the Father Brown stories, it reminds me of a show I watched as a child where a priest and a nun solved mysteries. The show was probably inspired by these books.

If you like a good mystery with some theology thrown in
Chesterton is a lovely writer--he gets maximum meaning out of every word, sentence, and paragraph. Nice dry sense of humor to boot.
