In this book, Archer gives the reader an insider's view of the parlimentary form of government. Four candiates each vying to become the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Canavasing votes, a coin toss, scrambling for coalitions to get the the required absolute majority, a minority party getting to play the king maker ..... like I said earlier, it shows most of the ins and outs of the parlimentary form of government. A well written political drama.

This book is about 4 British men from very different backgrounds, yet each man has a goal of becoming Britain's Prime Minister some day. The book follows their personal lives and political careers over 30 years and in the end..who will win the coveted position?

Well written, but would have been easier to follow the nuances with a deeper understa, ding of british politics. Interesting to see that political ambition is very similar regardless of the system, however!

A page turner about British politics. As unlikely as it seems, Archer manages to make the tale of the political rivalry between 3 ambitious mean quite riveting, making British politics come alive at the same time. He writing on very firm ground here, once being one of the youngest MPs in the house.
