Shannon (Giraffe Days)
Vikirnoff finally catches up to Natalya, the woman in the photo, as she's facing off a couple of vampires and some crazed wolves in the Carpathian mountains. He's met his match in Natalya though - she's mouthy, capable, independent and powerful in her own right: she's of the Dragonseeker line, and part Mage, part Carpathian and part human. Led to believe that the hunters killed her brother and would kill her if they find her, it's a bit strange that she doesn't attack Vikirnoff beyond a moment o...more

Dark Demon is book 16 of Christine Feehan's wonderful Dark Carpathian series. This is the story of Natalya Shonski and Vikirnoff von Shrieder. We first met Natalya in Feehan's Dark Secret and Vikirnoff in Dark Destiny.

Always on the run from vampires and Carpathian hunters, Natalya is part dark mage, part human, and part Carpathian. Her Carpathian bloodline is from one of the oldest and most respected of all Carpathian families: the Dragonseekers. Poisoned against the Carpathian people by the tr...more

Natalya Shonski is a vampire hunter, descended from a revered line of Carpathians known as the Dragonseekers and the most powerful mage in history. She hates and fears both vampires and Carpathians alike and has spent her life fighting them. Carpathian Vikirnoff van Schreider is dangerously close to turning vampire when he discovers Natalya and realises that she is his lifemate. But Natalya is unlike any other Carpathian he has ever known - dangerous in her own right, she refuses to let him figh...more

I can't help myself. I keep going back to Christine Feehan's Carpathian books, even though some of the recent ones have been less than stellar. (I gave the previous one 6/10 and wasn't exactly bowled over by it.) I still like the basic premise and I like the way she's been developing an overall story arc lately. I like the addition of the wizards and now there are dragons as well, which always gives a story or series extra points in my book. So I read the bad ones, enjoy the good parts of those...more

The only thing keeping Vikirnoff Von Shrieder from seeking out the dawn (to end his existence) was the search for a specific psychic woman that had started in the US (Dark Destiny) and finally brought him back to his home in the Carpathian Mountains. The miracle of her being his lifemate brought on fear and terror first because his first site of Natalya Shonski was of her in battle with a vampire. Growing up, Natalya and her twin Razvan learned the art of magick and she knew of Carpathians, vamp...more

Absolutely awful! Terrible cliche romance-novel characters (oh, she's such a STRONG-WILLED FIGHTING WOMAN WHO CAN'T BE TAMED, oh, he's such a MANLY MAN, THE "STRONG SILENT" TYPE) and so mary-sue it was untrue (oh, she's only amazing at fighting and spells, she's only super intelligent and beautiful and also can just happen to turn into a tiger, huh?).

Read this book at random out of a terrible selection at a hostel whilst travelling - I had no idea about the Carpathian storyline, and upon finish...more

Dark Demon (★★★) by Christine Feehan is the 13th book in her Carpathian Series. I read the first four books in this series in April 2007 and this book has been sitting on my shelf ever since. Reading it reminded me why I abandoned the series in the first place. At first the Carpathian books are exciting and a novel idea - vampires being what a Carpathian male turns into after centuries of life without the emotional stability of a mate. Only meeting a destined "lifemate" can save him.

However, af...more

#16 in Carpathian series and for some reason, Ms. Feehan does not include this in her Leopard Series, but this is both a Carpathian and Leopard Series book. Natalya is one of the Leopard People. Vik (is the Carpathian). It was a good read!

In the back of this book:
Appendix 1 (Carpathian Healing Chants)
Appendix 2 (Carpathian Language)

Huh! I'm sure someone thought that was necessary ;-)

I have looked forward to this story since meeting Vikirnoff back in Dark Destiny...recognising the stoic bravery of this character in holding fast to his honour rather than choosing the darkness of the vampire beast that could rage within.

In this story at least the plethora of hot sex scenes (that frankly are all too much the same old same old no matter how hot they get - Ms. Feehan still the velvet, feminine cores, sheaths flames and conflagration? Really you couldn't come up with some new nouns...more

Dark demon is a breath of fresh air compare to other Dark/Carpathian books that I've read (Well, I haven't read all of the series though). Natalya Shonski was a witty, skillful, strong and very independent protagonist. She reminded me of Jaxxon from Dark Guardian, which is one of my favourite Dark series.
I also like Vikirnoff's character. Feehan's portrayal of Vikirnoff was excellent in that he was like all Carpathian males - dominant and powerful, yet he was different. He was sensitive, funny...more

I am fan of Ms. Feehan for years and I sometimes get annoyed with her (especially in Dark series)chest beating, alpha male heroes, and meeting Vikirnoff was a breath of fresh air. Yes he is still possessive and protective but he does not coddle Natalya. He appreciate her strength and willing to fight with Natalya side by side. A man who does not just love a woman but respects what she can do and let her be the woman she wants to be. And Natalya is amazing, she is confident, strong, quirky and inn...more

love all of Christine Feehan books, so I could be a little prejudice on that score.
This story is about Natalya who is (Carpathian, Mage and Dragonseeker who is the oldest bloodline of the Carpathians). She was also gifted with being part tiger, which she can turn into when she is cornered by the vampires. She also carries a Dragonseeker birthmark, that burns whenever a vampire gets near or in the vacinity of her. Her mage blood line comes from the Carpathians sworn enemy, who stole a Carpathian...more

I have to say that this book has become one of my favorites. I have not read any of the other books in the series yet so I was a little lost at first.

My friend let me borrow this book, she said it doesnt really matter if you go in order because it doesnt really have a story line but now that I've read it I wish I would have started with the first book. But anyways heres my review::

It was really nice finally reading a book where the female character isnt some clumsy, shy weird girl(ie; Ana from 5...more

I had almost given up on this series. I was hoping that this book would restore my faith in the series and it delivered. I was pleased with both of the main characters and the storyline was fresh in comparison to the others. I now look forward to reading the next in the series, after a short break.

Definitely the best one of the lot! Just when I gave up hope that this series would pick up, I was surprisingly impressed by this installment. I hardly noticed Vikirnoff as a supporting character in the previous books but wow, he totally got to me in his own book. He is, hands down, one of my favorite Carpathian men - right up there with the Savage twins and Gabriel. And I absolutely adore Natalya! She's so awesome and kick-ass that even though her extraordinary abilities almost made her cross o...more

I honestly don't know what happened with this one. Up until this point I have given every other Dark book I've read three stars. I been wanting to read about Vikirnoff and Natalya since I read Dark Celebration.

This book was just so boring. The writing was giving me a headache and by page 250 I've had enough. It was nothing but Natayla casting mage spells and trying to undo the lifemate bond Vikirnoff had done. It was also about Natalya trying to figure out her lost memories and behold her broth...more

Without question, this book ranks as one of my top 3 favorite Carpathian novels. Vikirnoff is an amazing hero, nearly vampire himself and barely holding it together, he somehow finds his lifemate. Natalya is no shrinking violet but an accomplished hunter herself. Worse, she hates Carpathians. The strong pull between them leads to difficult times, for each of them and for their relationship. Dark Demon is one of Christine's most compelling and dark books in this series. Betrayal, love, loss of id...more

I like all the Dark series books but I don't love them. Dark Demon is #16 and is the story of Vikirnoff who was introduced to us in book 13 (Dark Destiny) about his brother Nicolae. It's a typical Christine Feehan Carpathian Novel, lots of relationship drama between the two main characters who are bonded together as lifemates at the same time that they fight the compulsion. All this while they fight together against the Vampires to save the dwindling Carpathian race. Oh, and there's steamy sex t...more

After 16 books, what can one say??? Ms. Feehan is somehow able to keep this series fresh with every single book while staying with a tried and true formula - NOT an easy accomplishment. The basics that we all fell in love with (strong, stalkerish alpha-males searching, then finding their lifemates while fighting vampires and assorted other nasties) still runs strong while the particular personalities and situations are unique and entertaining enough to keep us coming back for more.

In "Dark Demo...more

Story of Natalya and Vikirnoff - One of my favorite books in the Carpathian series. Natalya is a leather wearing, kick butt, carry weapons kinda girl. Her spunk and sharp wit brings out the best in Vikirnoff. Instead of a female that is constantly struggling with an "Oh my gosh - he's so dangerous" conflict.... You see Vikirnoff making mental adjustments to recognize the danger in his life mate. A very refreshing twist.

We get a greater sense of the Dragon seeker heritage. Important background is...more

Hah! Finally, I've finished this book. I didn't realized that it was 500+ pages. *shudders* no wonder I felt as if I have no breath left in me by the time I was done with it. (bad effect of reading e-books via my mobile)

Anyway, I like this story a lot especially the personalities of the two main characters. Taking a leaf from my newly acquired knowledge, I believe Vik is a "DFWM (Don't Fuck With Me) Seme" and Natalya is a "Badass Uke". Haha! I don't know if anybody understood what I just said. H...more

Definitely my favorite Carpathian novel so far! I loved Vikirnoff...I found him oddly sweet. I liked that he understood Natalya's need to fight and accepted her for who she was. Other Carpathians have not been so understanding.

I enjoyed seeing more of Dominic and can't wait to get to his book. Looking ahead and seeing that Razvan has his own book, I guess I can assume he's not evil or dead. I would like to know his story.

It's been a long break for me since I read my last Carpathian book, and I'...more

I like this series. I really do. But, this is book #16 and the formula is getting a bit stale.

1. Dark, handsome Carpathian male on the verge of turning into a vampire suddenly finds his lifemate in a human or part-human woman
2. Human or part-human female hell bent on being resisitant to said Carpathian and his "dominate" ways DESPITE the fact that her panties get in a twist everytime she looks at him
3. A few vampire battles
4. Healing from said battles (chanting, soil, mystical healing through b...more

I am a devoted fan of Christine Feehan and my most favorite series is her world of the fascinating and exciting Carpathians.

I have enjoyed all books in the series but book #16, Dark Demon, I really loved. Finally we get Natalya & Virkirnoff who we have met in previous books but never together.

Natalya who is part Carpathian & Mage (loved this addition to the series with wizards, dragons) is strong, independent, skilled in the arts of mage, a fighter and a loner, who has been hiding from...more

Natalya and Vikirnoff are a great pairing. Both strong individuals whom fight the vampires. Had me worried for a minute when Natalya turned into this wimpy, unconfident woman whom cared about "just pleasing her man and gaining his approval of her." That irritated me. Glad she snapped out of it, otherwise I would have thought she'd been mismatched as his lifemate. After all, both of these people have much to bring to their relationship. It's not one-sided. So glad Christine Feehan braught them fu...more

Dark Demon…

Things are coming to a head… Vikirnoff is tracking Natalya, a dragonseeker , whom they know has special significance to the vampires that are joining against the Carpathians… Natalya is compelled to go to the Carparthian mountains, to a specific cave… and Vikirnoff follows & finally finds her… (in a nick of time)…

It all began with Xavier, an ancient mage/wizard who wanted the immortal life of the Carpathians & power to rule the entire world… he kidnapped Rhainnon, a dragonseek...more

In this installment of Christine Feehan's Dark Series, we meet Vikirnoff VonShrieder and Natalya Shonski. Vikirnoff is an Ancient Hunter of the undead, on the verge of becoming what he has hunted for so long. His final task is to track down a mysterious woman being stalked by Vampires. They want her for some unknown task, and the Carpathians cannot allow her to fall into enemy hands. Natalya has been on the run from not only the vamps, but from hunters as well, believing that she will be killed...more

This has got to be my favourite book ever. I know i know i've said that for quite a few of the Carpathian Series, but if Feehan can actually top this one, then hats off to you lady.

Dark Demon had equal quantities of everything - romance, mystery, great characters, great situations, amazing conversations.. you know everything you want in a good book.

Natalya is part mage, part Carpathain and all woman. She's a movie addict with hilarious results - like calling the vampire Freddie Boy. She has grit...more

Wow, this book takes the story to another level by introducing the mage storyline. As if the Carpathian series wasn't intricate enough. I found it hard to follow some of the mage aspects, yet I was sucked in. Not only that, Natalya was one seriously kickbutt heroine. She was a total badass with all her weapons. A girl after my own heart. She even has a sword. I just loved how she jumped into the fray, guns blazing, sword swinging, and flinging knives. The part where she fights the shadow warrior...more
