Her suggestions on managing your own medical care, tracking records and information, communicating with friends and family and your health care team excellent. Full disclosure: I won this book as part of the First Reads program.

I found this book to be well organized and easy to read and navigate. As a long-time diabetic who has done much research, I did not find much new information here (hence the "I Liked It" rating), but I would recommend it for the newly diagnosed.

Of course, I love it - I wrote it! My goal is to help others, both diabetics and those who love someone with diabetes, to be prepared and better able to cope with life, hospitals, doctors, labs, travel, having babies, dealing with family dynamics and simply coping.
