Well, this was 3 books, could have easily been one, but the entire saga really struck me in the best way. Other reviews here lay out the plot synopsis, I'm only writing this review to summarize my reaction. And here it is!! I loved the setting and found myself entirely engrossed and involved on an intimate level with the characters, in a way that doesn't happen often to me. Maureen Lee was born in Bootle, England, UK, near Liverpool during the World War II. She attended Commercial College and became a shorthand typist. She married Richard, and they had three sons, now adults. The last years the marriage lives in Colchester, Essex.
