Shelves: deutsch, tucholsky
Published in 1929, this book gives voice to Tucholsky's frustrations with the Weimar era. Many of his observations unfortunately were given life four years later. It is scary when one considers the similarities with the United States today. His last essay Heimat, however, explains why, despite his criticisms, he still loved Germany.

Kurt Tucholsky was a German-Jewish journalist, satirist and writer. He also wrote under the pseudonyms Kaspar Hauser, Peter Panter, Theobald Tiger and Ignaz Wrobel. Born in Berlin-Moabit, he moved to Paris in 1924 and then to Sweden in 1930.
