Now, in A Personal Stand, Trace Adkins delivers his maverick manifesto on politics, personal responsibility, fame, parenting, being true to yourself, hard work, and the way things oughta b...more

Opening line: "It's a damn good thing I wasn't the president after 9/11 because I would have...lets not go there yet"

This is not really an autobiography but as it states on the cover, "a collection of observations and opinions from a freethinking roughneck." That's too bad because the best parts of this book are the stories about his life. Trace doesn't hold back here, insulting just about every nationality except Americans.

This would have been a 5 st...more

Trace Adkins was born and reared in Louisiana and has made it BIG in the country music genre. This book is his biography plus his stand on various and sundry contemporary issues. He is a true conservative and has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Hannity & Colmes, and Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher. According to the book's jacket, "he delivers his maverick manifesto on politics, personal responsibility, fame, parenting, being true to yoursel...more

Country music idol Trace Adkins tells stories of his life and how his experiences have shaped his conservative ideologies. Trace is obviously intelligent. He really knows how he feels about things and isn't afraid to express that opinion. While you may or may not agree with his opinions on the Middle East, immigration, American politics and many more topics, he does give you something to think about. Easy to read, his writing comes across as though you were sitting on the porch just chattin'. To...more

I've been a huge Trace Adkins fan for years, so I'm not sure why it took me so long to finally get around to reading his book. Imagine my surprise and delight to find that this big sexy man with a voice that could melt butter is actually packed with incredible common sense! His insights into today's society, politics, and even basic human nature is so worth the read! The book is rather disjointed; more or less, a collection of random thoughts and opinions, but it's packed full of wisdom and the ...more

Commonsense reading from a music and TV legend. I've found that everyone of us should attempt to gather the opinions of many different sources before cementing our own ideas. As we all know, media and news sources are not always reliable. Besides books and biographies, I also seek out overseas media such as YNET and the BBC to try to sift through all the clutter for the truth. Times have changed my friends and we are all responsible for keeping America free and independent.

I'm not quite done but this would a five star if Trace would've stuck more to talking about himself and family. I like that he gives opinion on things but there's just too much politics. I love him, I'm a big fan but, I hear that stuff all the time on the news & I'm already ticked off about illegas I don't want to read another person talking about 'em, when I read I want to leave this world behind. So, about the middle of the book I started skipping the 'political' pages.

Anyone who loves Trace will love this book. That counts me in! It reads just like interviews with him, funny, humble not afraid to share his opinions. I may not agree with all of his opinions and ideas but I admire the man for his integrity and honesty.

While I didn't necessarily agree with his view on everything, I think that he has a great way of expressing his views. It wouldn't hurt for more people to have a look at this book and come up with their own stands.

I actually laughed outloud a couple times while reading this. I also agreed with him a lot more than I thought I would. Either he is not as conservative as he thinks, or I'm not as liberal

Trace Adkins for President!! That is the thought I had going through my head while reading this book. I began to admire Trace after seeing him on Celebrity Apprentice. When he had something to say it was valid and thoughtful and I wanted to know more about him. I expected the personal history in this book but I didn't expect the political views. I found Trace to be very educated in history and current government workings. I agree with most of the things he mentioned (except he doesn't like the g...more

Since Trace and I sit on opposite ends of the political spectrum, I honestly did not think I would find much to get excited about - I was wrong. Although the book is choppy and doesn't flow as well as I think it could have, "The Man" has a lot to say and a whole lot of it makes sense. His thoughts on immigration were very insightful and some of his suggestions for turning things around are things I'm going to try in my daily life.

I have spent some time with Trace and this...more

If I could write a book about my personal philosophy, this would be it. Trace Adkins is a country music singer, most famous for performing "Honky-Tonk Badonkadonk". I like that song (and the video) so much that it was my ring tone for almost a year. Trace's personal philosophy is a pleasant surprise, and his writing style is very engaging. He is articulate and thoughtful, and rather than espouse some good ole boy rhetoric, he presents a very balanced view of America and its place i...more

I was already a fan of his after he was on Celebrity Apprentice, and the description of the book sounded pretty good. I enjoyed reading it...it had a little bit of everything. I would have liked it if he included more stories about his family. He went back into politics often, which I understand he is passionate about, but it became redundant. His honesty and voice is refreshing. Even if I didn't agree with him, I could respect his opinion...he makes good arguments. It did make me go out a...more

Even if you don't agree with everything he has to say, you have to respect the fact that he's not afraid to say what he feels.

The author relates his personal views on the state of the country today and some of the ways it can be fixed. Opinions are well thought out and the rest of the book is very entertaining. Gives an inside look at a celebritiy's life as well as some personal challenges that Trace has faced.

Very political. I like Trace, but this was so much about his political thoughts that it really turned me off. I wish it had been more about him - more details about his wife shooting him would have been interesting!

beginning is a bit slow. I had to put it down to start another book. I want to get into it though b/c he is a good old boy, a redneck. I love it! : )

This is a guy after my heart. I love me a handsome redneck.

I think Trace is a great guy, I enjoyed the book a lot! I don't agree with his opinions 100%, but for the most part we think alike. He's a good ole boy that would be fun to hang out with.

Trace's autobiography is a straight-forward story. While I don't agree with all of his politics, he is fairly consistent in his beliefs, and does live his life accordingly.

This guy tells it like it is. None of the "politically correct" crap. Simple "every man" wisdom and insight. A Good Read.
