I think my husband is glad that I have finished my "Christian soap opera" series.
What I didn't like about the series: I couldn't decide if Ashley was a sincere person or a busybody. There was a thunderstorm or tornado watch in every book. I understand that's common in Indiana, but does it always happen at times of great emotional turmoil? It became cliche. The people were a little too perfect for me... even when they were messing up, they were... well, perfect. They wer...more

Sunrise, Summer, Someday and Sunset; the Sunrise series by Karen Kingsbury and the last set of books about the Baxter family. Book one finds Dayne and Katy preparing for a wedding. The other books deal with a heartbreak in one family, marriages in trouble, the loss of the children's theater and further stories on the Flanigans. The last book deals with John Baxter & family trying to move on with life and brings their story to a close. One of these books really made me teary! I enjoyed them all ...more

I loved this book, as well as the whole series and the two series before it. All three series of books are about the same family, and how each member of the family struggles to find God and His purpose in their life.
I would definitely recommend any book by Karen Kingsbury, but be warned that these books about the Baxter family are good at drawing you in and there are lots of these books (14 total)! But I was sad to read that Sunset will be the last book specifically about the Baxte...more

Karen Kingsbury can write. I have to give her that. I was in tears while reading this, and I'm not easily moved to tears by books. This is the last installment in a series of books about the Baxter family. The Baxters live in Bloomingdale (Illinois?) and at the time of this book the family consists of a widowed father, several adult children, with spouses, and grandchildren. I haven't read any of the other books in the series and in some ways this reminded me of Debbie Macomber's last Cedar...more

Hmmm... overall I really liked all 3 of Karen Kingsbury's Baxter family series. But this book, the finale, didn't quite do it for me. It seemed she was really busy tying up a lot of minor loose ends and holding a love fest about how wonderful the characters were. Fine but not that interesting to read, especially after the fast-paced, tightly written and engaging plots of the previous books. Also there was an increased emphasis on the Flannigan family whom the author seems to be setting up fo...more

So I am now done with this series, and I am a little sad. I loved this series so much, and I hate to see it end. This last book was good, although there were a few story lines that I felt like didn't get finished. Over all I enjoyed it a lot. This whole series really spoke about God's redeeming love for us. It had such a wonderful and strong message. She truly is a wonderful writer.

Book 4 in the Sunrise series.
This was definitely a bittersweet book to read. I have read all 14 books in the Baxter series (including this one) and I'm sad to see it come to an end. I have fallen in love with all of the characters and will truly miss each and every one of them. I do hope that Karen brings them back to life in the near future - she hinted about that in the back of this book! Overall this was a wonderful way to say goodbye to the Baxters for now. I have so enjoyed reading about the Baxter family. They feel like a part of my life noy. I have been fortunate to actually start reading about this family with the first book that introduced them. Sad to see this be the last one. Will be checking out Karen Kingsbury web page to folloing blogs about what is going on with thte Baxters!

The end of an era...I wasn't prepared for this. I thought the series was going to continue with the Flanigan family. I love the Baxter family and feel like I'm related to them. Love their strong faith and it helps remind us to believe and He will take care of the rest.

I read all of her series. There are four books to these series.
Sunrise, Summer, Someday and Sunset.
She is a fabulous writer. Once you read one of her books you will not want to quit.
Sunset was the best one of the four to me, but they are all good.

Once I start a series, it's hard to stop until the last book is finished. I enjoyed reading the final story of the Baxter family. Although this is fiction, nobody's lives and families can be that perfect, and I'm glad that this series is over.

great book great series. Love that it is a family focus and that it has good lessons to learn about making mistakes and asking for forgiveness. I wish that there were more in the series of this family as characters. love love loved it.

This finishes the Baxter family series. Even though it was predictable at times, the family values and how they affected their reaction to their circumstances were good to think about. A very enjoyable read. Sorry to see the series end.

I always enjoy Karen Kingsbury for a quick and easy read. This tied up a lot of the loose ends of the Baxter family and also made me curious about some of the peripheral characters that will be in Karen's next series.

The latest in the Baxter soap opera saga. John Baxter gets remarried, Luke and Regan manage not to separate, and Ashley and Katy have baby girls. All of this is in the context of family Christian drama.

I enjoyed this book like most of Karen Kingsbury's novels; however, I found her doing too much backtracking and retracing the steps of her characters in this final book of the Sunrise Series. Otherwise, I would have given it more stars.

I am so sad that I'm finished with the Baxter Family Series. I devoured them all - mostly reading one in a day or two. I will miss keeping up with the Baxters, but I'm very happy with all the surprises in this final novel.

Yes I loved this series... but.. too predictable and was not as exciting as her other books. Took me forever to get into and finish.

I just didn't want this series to end! The Baxter family is real, suffers real challenges and perseveres through them.
