Hawaiian gods? Vampires? Curses and dire consequences? Sign me on! It's been a while since the last vampire series co-penned by A.J. Llewellyn and D.J. Manly was published, and I am really, really happy the long drought is over. 'Tiki Vampires' promises to be an excellent addition to these authors' work and my bookshelves, and if this first book is anything to judge it by, I'll be hanging on by my fingernails – as usual. I cannot wait!

Okay, so here we go. The basic premise seems simple. We have

I feel a need to explain my review because I am being a little harsh.

While I didn't have any issues with the story and the writing, though I have a generic dislike for Hawaiian God stories, the reason I could not like this book was because of the main characters. They had so little personality that I could not connect to them on any level. They were almost like props. Maybe in a later book more of their personality might be explored but with such a shoddy setup, I doubt I will read them.

A.J. Llewellyn lives in California, but dreams of living in Hawaii. Frequent trips to all the islands, bags of Kona coffee in the fridge and a healthy collection of Hawaiian records keep this writer refueled.

A.J’s passion for the islands led to writing a play about the last ruling monarch of Hawaii, Queen Lili’uokalani as well as a non-erotic novel about the overthrow of her kingdom written in dia
