On Thin Ice
Lily Munroe, veterinarian, lives on a cattle ranch helping the cows birth calves, fearful of planes – her mother died in a plane crash, where her father was the pilot… her father remarried & his grown stepson is also a vet… she married Sean, a lying, cheating, con man – who only wanted her because his friend, Derek, wanted her first… he left her on their honeymoon night (having taken her virginity) to pick up a woman at the bar downstairs. She wanted to divorce him, but then he to...more

I’m torn between excellent action and suspense writing and problems with the heroine.

I loved the plot and events which included bad guys, the Iditarod race and sled dogs. It was well done with good writing. Lily is a vet and trains sled dogs for the Iditarod races. Both she and Derek are participants in the current race. I enjoyed the story around the Iditarod. Other plots included Lily overhearing a conversation about illegal activities. As a result, bad guys are trying to kill her. Derek lives...more

Lily Munroe thought she had married an honest, dependable man, but she was painfully mistaken. It didn’t take long for her once-loving husband to become a secretive stranger–mixing with shady people and even shadier dealings. Although Lily nursed him through a sudden terminal illness, her marriage was over long before he passed away. During that difficult time, only her passion for the exhilarating Iditarod race across Alaska gave her something to look forward to–and she channeled her emotions i...more

#6 T-FLAC

DNF - Quit after 10 pages

I enjoyed the earlier T-FLAC books, but quit reading On Thin Ice a few weeks ago ... just SO unbelievable and downright stupid. In the first ten pages, a rookie female agent (gorgeous, of course) is deemed to be vital to the team's success in a super important mission against an very bad man.

As the mission is in a critical stage, the female rookie agent disobeys her team leader's orders, does some TSTL things, then freezes in fear, all of which endanger the miss...more

Wonderful book! Set in Alaska at the time of the Fur Rendezvous (festival) and the Iditarod sled dog race from Anchorage to Nome. I enjoyed the animals included in this book, the dogs, moose, more on the dogs ;-)...great main characters and did I mention the dogs?

A favorite for This Reader.

I've been making my way through Cherry Adair's T-FLAC series and while I wouldn't exactly call them high literature, I have to admit they have been fun to read. Predictable and formulaic, but enjoyable. Until this one.

Sorry, On Thin Ice is a stinker. I can not stand stupidly stubborn, fearful, distrustful and irrational heriones, not to mention the tedious repition of the internal dialogue reflecting the stupidly stubborn, fearful, distrustful and irrational thoughts of said stupidly stubborn, f...more

I guess this book would be romantic suspense, and although I really enjoyed the suspense part and even the two main characters, I am done with this series. The T-FLAC series has worn out its welcome - they are essentially all the same. The part of this book that really made me want to quit the series is the wishy-washiness of the woman, Lily. She wallowed a lot in fears based on a past relationship to a real jerk, and failed to see that the hero, Derek, was not the jerk from before. This went on...more

The Heroine is a whiner and TSTL at times. She does not deserve the hero at all.

This story might take place in ice cold Alaska, but it is scorching HOT! In true Cherry Adair fashion it's full of action and hot romance with sexy TFLAC agent Derek Wright and veterinarian Dr. Lily Munroe in the middle of the wilds of Alaska's annual Iditarod race. Trying to uncover who is running the sale of illegal bull sperm on their ranch sends and assassin after Lily with Derek as her only protection and of course there's some terrorist that plant a bomb and they are the only two around to...more

4.25 stars actually
This entry to the T-FLAC series boasts the interesting backdrop of the Iditarod. It can brag that it has one of those yummy Wright Boys you can read about (& drool over) all day long. It can preen that is has clever action set pieces and the comfort of home on the ranch. But nope - we get to spend too much time with Lily as she tries to convince both Derek and herself that they can never work. Oh. The. Drama. Of it all.
That annoyance aside, a few years and a lot of histor...more

6th in the T-FLAC series. Last of the Wright brothers' stories. Derek is Kane's twin and the last single brother.

Derek and Lily have had chemistry from day one. She's been running from it and he's been waiting her out--through her marriage to his so-called best friend, to her mourning his death. Now he is ready for her to be ready. She still wants to run, though. She's finding out her husband wasn't what she thought he was and now she wonders who Derek really is, too.

I really liked most of this...more

I must say that I enoyed this book alot better than the last two Wright brothers books. Derek Wright fell for Lily Munroe 6 years ago but stepped aside when she fell in love with his best pal Sean. But when Sean and Lily married, Sean started stepping out on her and Derek wanted to say something until Sean was Diagnosed with terminal cancer and given 6 months to live. But 6 months actually turned into 3 years. Lily stood by Sean during his cancer. And Derek Loved her more because of it.

I must admit I have read this book before. When I am struggling on the current book(s) I will read this just to have a fast read.
I love the interaction between the two main characters and the thrill of the hunt and the chase. A little romance, stalking and terrorists mixed up with the Alaskan Iditarod and it's just impossible to resist.
It is permanantly a keeper on my shelf.

This is the last of the Wright series. Derek Wright is in love with Lily Munroe but Lily is terrified of her feelings for Derek. She ends up marrying his best friend. When she decides to divorce her “bad guy” husband, he’s diagnosed with cancer. His short time to live ends up being 3 years. Read the book to find out how Lil and Derek got back together during the Iditarod Race in Alaska. This may be the only time that it’s actually hot in Alaska!

Wow...On Thin Ice was a book that I will be reading again and again.. I loved Derek and Lily and how she fights the attraction between the two and how Derek is always there for her. I love the winter weather so the scenery of the Iditarod was perfect for me. Cold and snow and hot sex...a perfect winter read!

The last two books in this series changed so much. The first five had some seriously hard laughs in them. the last two, not so much. i miss that, but it doesn't make these books any less good. just different. these are a more serious romantic suspense. though this one did have a pirate reference.

This book was AMAZING! So full of passion and adventure. My favorie from Cherry Adair....I think :) so many great reads when you are talking about Mrs. Adair. If you haven't read her books yet, its a must do so put down what you are reading and check this out

I hated, hated, HATED this book. Lily is one of the worst heroines ever. She's mean, rude, and flat-out stupid. I hated the hero simply for loving such a witch and for being wimpy enough to put up with the constant rejection. Ugh.

Who would've thought somewhere so cold could be so hot?! I instantly loved Lily and her dogs, Derek too! What a cool tale about the iditarod, the research that Cherry does in each and every one of her books simply amazes me!

More than halfway through the novel, and I am enjoying it. This despite the fact that I can't seem to understand the attration between Derek Wright, our T-Flac brother, and Lily Munroe, country veterinarian and Iditarod champion musher. For a medical doctor, Lily's about as thick as a can of spam. She runs away from Derek years ago because of "the heat" (what??), she marries a man she discovers is cheating on during the honeymoon, and decides to stay with him for three more years as he dies of t...more

2-1/2 stars. There were too many outlandish scenarios in this one. It's like someone dated Cherry Adair to see how many improbable things she could fit in one tale. And Lily was annoying

The only thing which is interesting is the race. And the dogs. This is probably the last one for me. I just realized I never gave more than 2 stars to previous books.

I feel like this book returned, for me, to the TFLAC books that I enjoyed so much in the beginning.
