3 1/2 Stars ~ Shea's in her mid 20's and she doesn't believe in relationships or marriage. Three years ago she'd been brutally jilted two days before her wedding; that, combined with her mother's seven marriages, have made a cynic of Shea. So Shea's decided to keep away from relationships and focus on her career as a journalist, only her boss of the small newspaper where she works, thinks she's only fit to right the fluff pieces, the society columns. Covering a story of the local lads who made ...more

I really enjoyed this story. Pax had me from the start.

Very good book. I liked both Shea and Pax. Shea is a very independent and doesn't want to depend on anyone. She is very cynical about love having seen her mother go through seven marriages and then being dumped at the altar by her own fiance. As a journalist she spends a lot of time doing stories about Pax and considers him quite a flirt. She doesn't understand why he is pursuing her. When an ice storm strands them together their attraction takes over. Two months later Shea knows she is pregnant ...more

The people on this cover don’t look much like the characters as they’re described in the book!

This is my second Allison Leigh book, and it is clearly connected to another I haven’t read. However, this wasn’t an issue for me (I wasn’t overwhelmed by the backstories), and I’ve found this is an author whose writing style I really enjoy. Her books are very ‘readable’ – I read this in one sitting!

I won’t claim pregnancy storylines are my favourites, but what I did like about this b

Shea doesnt really believe in love. Her mother wasn't the best example constantly marrying man after man. Then she was left before her wedding. So when it comes to love shes pretty cynical about it. Shea would rather work hard at the job she enjoys and works for what she has. When her piece of junk car leaves her out in the rain she goes to Paxton for refuse till it blows over. The last thing she expected was a night of passion that leaves her pregnant.

Paxton has always had a thing for Shea but

An ice storm in Seattle is the trigger which turns a flirtatious friendship into something more. Shea Wetherby just wanted Pax to dry her off but... let's say she lost her self-control. Pax Merrick would have taken Shea up on her offer sooner - if she'd offered! He was content to wait until she felt right about him. After two years, he finally got the chance to keep her warm. Shea's a journalist, assigned to minor stories with the local paper, and she's seen Pax at his yachting shop surrounded ...more

I look forward to straight up, straightforward, no surprises, happily-ever-after romances. Know why? Because they're relaxing. Yep, I'll read literary fiction and mysteries and intensely dramatic romances, but when I've had a long week or a tough day, I want something reliable.

Last night I read Once Upon a Valentine, and all my troubles disappeared. I read a philanthropic, boat-building millionaire for the alpha hero. (Pax has been in love with Shea for years, but she pays him no mind.) I got a

I liked Once Upon a Valentine. It is a cute story. I did skip over the love scenes. I enjoyed the characters.

Shea Weatherby is a reporter for one of her jobs. Shea does not believe in love and marriages. Her mom is on husband #6 and 7th marriage. She has reasons why it is hard for her.

Paxton Merrick is rich. He builds yachts. He has been trying to date Shea for three years. She keeps turning him down. He believes in love and marriage and only wants one.

Her boss keeps having her to stories
I was so looking forward to this book with Valentine's Day coming up. This book has absolutely nothing to do with Valentine's Day other than one of the day's near the beginning is February 14th.
This book was nothing more than two enticing characters and a fun synopsis turning into an emotionally abusive relationship. Two days after she finds out she's pregnant the author flipped both characters. Turning the so called hero into nothing but a rich ass who bullies her until he gets what he wants;

Shea have no trust in relationship. All these derived from her mother’s failed marriages and the fact that she was dumped at the altar by her own fiancé. She is a journalist and have spent a lot of time doing stories on Pac and his family. Paxton is attracted to her but Shea consider him a flirt. But when an ice storm forced them together, their attraction took over and as a result, Shea is pregnant. She told him about her pregnancy but his insistence on being completely involved make her ...more
Stories & Verse
The romance in "Once upon a Valentine" is about convenience turned into love, roommates turned into lovers, a one night stand that turned into a relationship.

After reading the synopsis I was expecting a story about a storm and two people stuck in a room together. However, the part about the storm was past tense and the story was about their relationship after the storm.

I kept wishing the main story line was about the storm and not the morning after.

"TOP PICK! Leigh has a natural ability to draw a reader into a story, and her doubting heroine and true-believer hero are the ultimate yin and yang: Their banter is perfect, and their chemistry is spectacular." RT Book Reviews, rated 4 1/2 stars

Miniseries: The Hunt for Cinderella
One of the books in the series about the ladies who act as fairy godmothers for women who need help. Heroine is more resistant to romance than most. Nicely done.

This is a great story line. It is a beautiful love story. It deals with trust and belief. I read it in one sitting.

Just so so.
I'm not into books where the main characters do nothing but argue and that's my take on this book.
It was well written and all but just not my cup of tea.
