Une vision post-apocalyptique d'un monde ou les mutations restreignent le nombre de bébé garcons. Mais aussi une exploration d'une société ni dystopique ni utopique, ou les quelques hommes s'integrent tant bien que mal et ou beaucup de femmes s'organisent entre elles.
Une vie pas facile, une découverte graduelle des artefacts qui sont autant d'indices de ce qui a pu arriver à l'humanité.

When I realized this was a post-ecological disaster, matriarchal, communal story with a crypto-Christian overlay, I almost set the book aside. I'm glad I didn't. Vonarburg put a lot of thought into her world-building and then peoples it with well-meaning, fallible characters. The narrative's a bit disjointed (there were a couple places where I had to go back a few chapters to check my chronology (chronologies, actually, there are several)) and there's a reveal at the end that left me feeling

I've become rather obsessed with the book recommendations of Jo Walton at Tor.com. This is one of the books she profiled a few years back that I finally got around to picking up, and I loved it. There’s also nothing I can say that makes it sound any better than Walton does, so really just need to go read that. (The only thing I have to add is that Maerlande – In the Mother’s Land if you find the Bantam edition – is actually a sequel/companion to The Silent City. I read it first not even knowing
