Numbers are everywhere—they play such a vital role in our everyday lives. But what would happen if we measured love with equations just as we do our morning cup of coffee? My nana had many recipes in her cupboards, but it was her calculations for love that she insisted I live my life by; and I’ve followed her rules all these years

I rarely give a synopsis of the plot since it's usually listed under the book title, so why repeat? In this case, it's so vague, I'll add some details. Ninety Eight covers two years in the life of Brielle, a young veterinarian assistant. She gets engaged to Vincent, Mr. 65% Right since her nana told her when she was 16 that it is better to settle than look for Mr. 98% Right. (True love apparently burned nana. We find out some details later, but it's never really explained.) The story continues o ...more

This was a really interesting concept for a story, I've read quite a few 'triangle' books where the female was married but never where the male was. Its honestly not so much of a triangle, its about two people who fall in love, who just happen to be in other relationships.
Brielle is engaged to Vic, and Darwin is married to Fiona.
This is where the concept of the book is really good Darwin and Brielle form a friendship even though they know, and so do the readers that its so much more than that. Th

ARC Review – I received an advanced copy of this amazing book (and finished it very late that same day)

I’m not sure where to start with my review of this book (which is why it's taken me so long to write it) – The emotional roller coaster that is the plot of this book had me laughing, crying and at times wanting to throttle Brielle’s mother (a woman that doesn’t deserve the title at all). Through it all, I could not put the book down. By the time I thought things might have a chance to work out

Ok i will not lie i was torn up with this book i laughed and cried and cursed it till i finished it!!! I totally loved the story line and i could relate to how we are told how to act and how to not follow our dreams and childhood fantasies of love and the future... I love Darwin and BRiele and Micah... Love is never easy and this story puts it out there for you to grab ahold of and just go for it!! There were times i wanted to give up reading it dues to the thought of Briele giving up And not fo ...more

Oh. My. God. This was one of the best love stories I've ever read. I never cry when I read books but this one did a number on me...I laughed and I cried. I was happy, angry and sad. I stayed up till 4:30am because I couldn't put this book down. Once I got to a certain point, I had to keep reading. I recommend this book to all contemporary romance fans.

I recommend this book.

I enjoyed this book by Shannon. This book includes passion, laughs, heartache, grief, and betrayal.

This is NOT a sweet romance so if you are looking for that this book is not for you!!

There are times in this book you will feel as if you are in a storm of emotions and that the hail in that storm is coming down hard. Just when you think you have your emotions under control Shannon hits you w

Since I was the copy editor on Shannon Mayer‘s newest contemporary romance Ninety-Eight, I can’t exactly review it on Amazon, but I did on my website and can on Goodreads. The reason I’m doing this is because you have to read this book. I’m not kidding. In fact, I’m demanding you read this book. I have never before had a book pull so much emotion out of me. It’s sweet, funny, heart-wrenching, warm, and soul searching. And it has one helluva plot twist that I will absolutely not give away, but tr ...more

This book is a story about a woman, her family issues and her belief that 100% love doesn't exist. Brielle has a distant and unloving mother, a cruel step father and a clueless fiancé. Brielle believes that the best that she should hope to find is a man that meets 60% of her needs because that's what her Nana told her. This story is about Brielle's journey to learn to love herself and to find love that is more than 60%.

I enjoyed reading about Brielle's journey. The writing was good. The main cha

Ninety Eight shows a perfect example of how all advice given, even by those we dearly love, should be taken with that "grain of salt" and just what differences there are between settling for beige or going for the full color. Brielle is a young woman who has been broken. Even after living with her Nana and receiving the love she yearned for growing up, her Nana passes. She leaves Brielle one last letter, which Brielle takes to heart and this changes the course of her life coloring all of her fut ...more

So regretfully I have to admit that I read this some time and it has taken me fooorever to finally figure out how I felt about what I read. Let me first that this is my second encounter with Ms. Mayer’s work and since I was rather impressed the first time around I figure I would experience the same enjoyable...well that didn’t exactly happen.

Ninety-Eight Shannon Mayer.

I love Shannons' Rylee Adamson series, she's a fabulous paranormal writer but I wasn't so keen on her first contemporary novel, and wondered if maybe the genre change just didn't suit for me. Still, its always good to try more than once so read this one, the second contemporary romance and... it just blew me away. Of course being a horse fanatic it had the edge right from the start with horses and the horse world having a solid part to play. Its nothing like most of t

I’m a big fan of Mayer’s Rylee Adamson series, but I haven’t yet read any of her other books, though I’ve wanted to. I went into Ninety-Eight not knowing anything about it and I don’t know if that hurt or helped my enjoyment.

I never really warmed up to Brielle. She is so fixated on her numbers, and how a guy would score, to actually see the
man underneath. Victor seems to rate highly, but in actually, is a bit of a jerk. Darwin would be perfect, except for one major deduction. Due to this, she he

I really wanted to like this book, I love Shannon's Rylee series but I didn't warm to this book and I had a strange feeling that I had read this book or maybe seen a similar film before. I even held off posting this review hoping I would feel more positive with some perspective.

This was quite a love story. You have a woman who bases her judgment of the man meant for her on a letter left to her by her nana on settling for someone who is 60% as Nana says there is no one out there to make your heart go pittypat, no one who will give you tingles, it's better to settle for a "good" man. You have her mother who is NO kind of mother at all (who chooses a mean man over her own kid? Her mom DISGUSTS me). And you watch as Brielle is seemingly about to ruin her life.

So I was lucky enough to get an Advanced Reader Copy of Shannon Mayer's latest romance. Let me just say that I read this book from start to finish, only taking a break to wipe tears from eyes. Emotional highs and lows, laughter and tears. A tale that I identified with, characters that I want to meet. I really did want to love this book but I just couldn't get into it. I believe it's because Brielle and I just don't mesh well. I didn't have the same love for the characters as I do in the Rylee series. They didn't draw me in or make me want to know more about their pasts. I understood why Brielle cared what her nana thought but I can't fathom going so far as to marry a man you don't love; he wasn't even providing any benefits other than being her "boyfriend/fiance". Why stay with him? Why even ...more

When I first began to read "ninetyeight" thought, "OK, here's a nice little common romance." Boy was I wrong! It was better than "nice", it was an emotional roller coaster.

Started out being a little mad about the situation Brielle is in. That soon turned to uneasiness with it then "BAM" I'm cheering her on. And then I'm hit with another "BAM" and the cheers turn to stomach clinching sorrow. I'm beginning to think at this point, "how the heck is Mrs. Mayer's going to write her way out of this me

When I found this book, I had no idea what to expect. The summary was vague as hell (and now I understand why!) But because of it's "vague-ness" I read the amazon ratings, which were all 4 and 5 stars, but they all said the same thing, "emotional rollercoaster" and so I was sold and had to find out what that rollercoaster consisted of. It was almost too much of an emotional roller coaster. How much bad advice, bad luck & horrible, manipulative people surrounding them can one person have? What an emotional ride. It was very good. It really had everything; happiness, humor, heartbreak, mistrust, distrust. Good guys and bad guys and a little innocent. You laughed, you cried, and you even wanted to hit the bad guys and the idiots. It’s a definite warm tale, about fighting for what you deserve and not settling for anything else.
