Maybe the title is a warning to prospective readers?

Viva la Tito!!!

“This is Gonna Hurt” is an autobiography of the shirt life of one Tito Ortiz. Among the revelations and themes of this book:

• Tito clearly has a vendetta with Dana White, who he excoriates as a two-faced wannabe’ – no news there. I doubt these two will be exchanging Christmas cards.
• He paints an unflattering picture of Chuck Liddell as a lackey of the UFC, a “company man.” At one poin More...

Tito doesn’t hold back when he talks about his life before, during and after the UFC. He talks vividly and openly about his childhood, his heroin-addicted parents and his days as a gang-member in Huntington Beach before he found his calling as an MMA fighter.

Tito reveals his likeable side as an author – a side we glimpsed when he was a coach in TV’s Ultimate Fighter – and gives a fascinating insider’s view of the world of UFC and its president, Dana White in particular.

I was on the fence about Tito Ortiz, until I read this book. The main reason I did not like Tito was I started out as a Chuck Liddell fan when I started watching UFC in 2006. Once I watched season three of the Ultimate Fighter starring Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock, I began to appreciate Tito as a coach. He really does wear his heart on his sleeve and cared about his team, which he dubbed team punishment. This was more than we could say for Ken Shamrock.

This book goes all the way back to More...

Who is the real Tito? I surely had no idea. He's cocky on TV and gets bad-mouthed by other fighters in interviews and in their books. It turns out Tito is a father, an actor, a serious businessman and a entrepreneur on top of being one of the UFC's biggest names.

Tito's biography is one you wont soon forget. He lets it all out and talks about his crazy childhood and MMA career.

This book is easy to read and definitely clears up some of the rumors about him that we (MMA fa More...

Different from some fighter biographies I've read, my opinion of Tito Ortiz improved a lot after having learned more about him (the opposite could be said for Matt Hughes). However, I briefly was pretty mad at him after reading about his hobby/business of home robbery while he was in high school (considering my family and I had recently suffered our second home robbery and third forced robbery). However, in the context of his life..... Tito did not have an idyllic upbringing, and for him, sur More...

This is a pretty straight up auto-biography of a non-writer, though better of many that are out there. Story of Tito's life, plain and simple. He is a pretty polarizing MMA character, so its good to get his side of the story. he did alot for the sport, so he says, and Dana contradicts. Read the book and you can better decide for yourself. Also interesting because he discusses the beginnings of his relationship with Jenna Jameson.

Tito Ortiz is the reason I first got into the sport of Mixed Martial Arts so it was with great intrest that I read this book. Although I did enjoy it I was slightly let down by the lack of insight into Mr Ortiz's fights. He went into great detail of his personal life wich was a rare glimpse, but it failed to go into detail about any of his big fights which I found dissapointing.

I didn't care much for Tito Ortiz as a person until I watched him as a coach on Season 3 of The Ultimate Fighter.
Sure, I thought he was a great fighter and an amazing wrestler, because that was undeniable. But I felt he was really really cocky.
I have come to realize that I mistook his ultra-confidence for being cockey. That was my own misconception. That's not to say I always agree with his choice of words.

After reading this book I can say that i thinka lot less of Tito a More...

Tito is brash in the cage but always entertaining. This book helps me to understand the man behind the hype that he usually creates. He has really done well for himself by escaping the life he led as a child and has turned into a smart businessman and fighter. Maybe not the best fighter ever, but one to be reckoned with.

I have actually met Tito and he is an awesome guy. I am in the USMC (with 12 years active duty) and he loves to support the military. He gave me a free Team Punishment hat with an autograph and let me get a picture with him even though no pictures were supposedly to be taken at the event.

Tito Ortiz has jumped the shark when it comes to UFC. However, if you appreciate his charisma and his place in UFC history you will enjoy this book.

Not a bad book if you are a MMA fan who wants to get a closer look at one of the sports more interesting athletes! At times it can be a little all over the place story wise, but all in all written better than Chuck Liddel's book. Tito has lived quite a life and it is worth checking out where he has come from and what his future might hold.

I'm a big fan of the UFC and MMA in general. The book is terribly ghost written and doesn't have much of a coherent arc. It's 2 stars because there are some interesting insights into Tito's character and persona as well as the whole dana white feud.
