This three volume history of religious, social and political movements in the United States of America in the mid-nineteenth century has been written by a Seventh Day Adventist historian interested in the context within which his church arose. There is more reference to Millerites and Adventism in these books than one would find in a normal academic history, but it is neither intrusive nor overwhelming. Thus these books may be recommended to general readers.
