Chloe Henderson had everything going against her. A mother who had more boyfriends and broken relationships than Ms Liz Taylor, without the money behind it. A father she never knew. Life was tougher than old boots on a rubbish dumb. She could write a book on stepfathers for dummies. Then her mom died when she was thirteen years old. When Trace enters her life at the age of seventeen and tells her he loves her, she is in heaven and very soon pregnant to boot. She dreams about a house of her own w ...more

In the first chapter of Lying with Strangers we are introduced to Chloe, a young pregnant woman for whom life has stacked the deck against her. She walks into a store just as her boyfriend robs it and witnesses the murder of the store clerk and another man who entered in the middle of the robbery.

Next we meet Diane, a columnist, mother, and the wife of the man shot at the store, shot but not dead. We learn that he is an assistant district attorney and that he lied to his wife about where he was

Chloe is pregnant with her punk boyfriend's baby and although he tells her to stay put when they stop at the convenience store, she doesn't. As she enters, she is horrified to see he has brought a gun in with him. Along with the clerk, he kills ADA Roy Walker, who happens to have the bad timing of walking in at the wrong time. Roy's wife Dianna is shocked to get the call informing her of her husband's shooting, and even more horrified to discover that Roy Walker may not be his real name. The wri ...more

This story was a fabulous dramatic mystery, created by Jonnie Jacobs, that had me guessing at the truth the entire time. I truly enjoyed the characters, the twists and turns, and how it resolved itself in the end. I enjoyed the unique plot and was impressed throughout.

Unfortunately the narration hurt the story telling due to its terrible post editing. Marissa Pistone did a fine job with all the characters, emotions, and pacing. However, the amount of mouth noises, licking of lips, lip smacks, an

Lying with Strangers is the provocative story of two very different women and the tragic event that brings them together, opening the door to second chances. Against her better judgment, Chloe Henderson becomes the unwitting accomplice to a murder committed by her boyfriend. The
A friend recently gave me a box of books and this box is loaded with books by this author. I had never heard of her before. I wish I could have added another half star because I enjoyed the fast pace of this mystery. It reminded me a little of a Lifetime movie, but who doesn't enjoy a rainy day full of those ? I will be reading more of this author.
I so enjoy reading books written by Jonnie Jacobs. This was a great story with many twists and turns to keep you going. I also really enjoyed the narrator she did a wonderful job keeping me listening and wanting more. I was gifted this book with the understanding that I would give an honest review.

Slow. The last quarter of the book was the best. Jonnie Jacobs should stick to writing her Kali O'Brien mysteries. They're some of my favorite books.
“Lying With Strangers” by Jonnie Jacobs. After Diana Walker’s husband is killed in a robbery, she finds out that she knows very little about his real life. She meets a new friend who helps her through the tragedy only to find that her friend also isn’t who she pretends to be. Jacobs writes a couple of mystery series, but this is a stand-alone novel.
A quick read with a few good twists. Try her earlier titles.
A quick, easy read--plot depends heavily on coincidence.
Easy read. Somewhat unrealistic characters.
This would have been better as a read rather than audio. I could hear the narrator swallowing every few minutes. It was so annoying!
Awesome Thriller! I would recommend to anyone who loves suspense! Totally Awesome!

Very good, lots of twists. Kind of conveniently tied up at the end, but that's minor detail to a good read.
