This is far more than a travel book. While Bachleda writes of cities and more rugged terrain she's visited, tapping into deep connections to place, she expands far beyond personal experience. History is artfully integrated into her descriptions of spreading her father's ashes in the Forum in Rome, or the ecosystems of St. George Island.
