If it was easy, it wouldn't be worth it.

Deni Casparich has been obsessed with the story of the Brockway Mountain Hermit since she was a kid. Little did she know he was her hottie of a boss.

Sawyer Beck is not the legendary hermit, but having spent the last ten years of his life in near seclusion, he might as well be. Pulled back into real life, Sawyer begins working togethe

This is probably one of the best books in the series. It didn't hold secrets or shyness or avoidance of each other. It showed two people who seemed to act normal in a blooming relationship circumstance.

Diane is an architect; Sawyer is her boss- whom she's never met.

When they do meet there seems to be chemistry right in the beginning and I liked that Sawyer took over and asked her out almost immediately.

Diane needs Sawyer and he needs Diane. I liked watching how the two healed each other, talk

4 words. Read this, it's fabulous.

Ok it is deserving of a few more as it was a perfect effortless read. It is one of those books that leaves you completely satisfied and smiley, yet at the same time gutted you've finished it! Whilst quite easily a standalone read, I would recommend reading the previous 3 'Worth' books. Not only are they each fabulous in their own individual ways, but the characters from them are mentioned and a couple of them do feature as part of this story.

We met Deni briefly

This series is incredible. I got my first, Worth the Weight, because it was a freebie on Kindle--so grateful I took the chance. A talented writer that can allow characters to be faulty and even more likable for it, Jacobs also recreates Michigan's Upper Peninsula in fabulous detail. I'm a U.P. fan, frequent visitor, and she's got the places, the natural world, and the SISU of the populace down pat. The plots are strong, the women are strong, the men are lovable even when they're dumb. And the ...more

I have such mixed feelings on this one. I continue to enjoy this series, but can't help but be disappointed in some things.

The Bad:

I praised the author for getting better with her writing and flow in my review of the previous book. Unfortunately, there were a lot of errors in this novel and that was such a let down to me.

The references to how much the heroine Deni knew (or didn't know) hockey was annoying. She grew up in Farmington Hills, a suburb of Detroit. I also grew up in a suburb of Detroi

Ok, as someone who was named for a pattern, others that were name for a pattern always stand out to me. So, when Sawyer explains his brothers are named because the mom liked Mark Twain (obviously the Adventures of Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer) that you look at the names she chose. She picked two last names and one first name. Which first name? Huck. Well, then the next question is why not Finn? And then in the next paragraph someone asks why the mom didn't pick Samuel? Really. So, is this all ...more

Worth the Effort is book 4 of the Worth Series and a copper country romance. Petey Ryan and Durio Lucas want to start a small business to take care of the golfers when it is not golfing season. Between them they have the money, now they need the engineers. A small firm checks them out and calls in their head honcho to make the sale. Sawyer Beck was a great engineer but had spent the last ten years alone after his wife’s death. While trying to figure out what his partner wanted him to do, he saw ...more

Mara Jacobs The Worth Book 4 is out and I just love the story behind it. Worth the Effort is about a sweet romance that both couples fight for. I love Deni's character and how she works through her issues. She is a strong women who knows what she needs to do. She also knows what she wants and goes for it.

I also love that Sawyer is an older man who isn't perfect. He also is working through his own issues and doesn't want to worry anyone else with them. Until Deni comes into his life. He is willin

I was waiting for this book and was not disappointed. Deni and Sawyer was a match made in heaven. The struggles were match and heart warming. I cried when he told his wife's story and cheered when Deni put all the cards on the table. She never settled regardless of how her heart felt. Great job Mara

I understand the whole concept of SAD and I am glad that Sawyer realized that he loved Deni before it was too late. I thought oh now what did Sawyer do by sending in Twain to save the day. I understand what Sawyer was going through and I hope that these two can be a forever couple. Thank you Mara for another great book.

This was a pretty quick book to read in doctors' offices! I like that the author tried to incorporate the characters from the previous book. It adds that depth going into it. I could only imagine the amount of time and effort that was placed in weaving in the other characters was a huge payoff for this series. I'll be reading the novella and anything new that comes with that.

I love the worth series but to be honest this one was a bit of a let down. Still a good book, but it felt more like a short story than a book and I didn't feel like the ending was complete enough. I would recommend just reading the others and if you have some money burning a whole in your pocket, then buy this one, otherwise I would stick to her others, they are fantastic!

This book fell a little flat as I seem to be on a Kristen Ashley high. Must say when Mara Jacobs described the "ice cube" I could see it clearly in my mind's eye and wanted to be there with Sawyer. Good series

So glad to see this series continue. In this book Deni and Sawyer are a wonderful pair. Sawyer who has only been existing for the last 10 years is ready to re-enter the world for Deni but are the past and the present too similar for him to really try? I definitely recommend this one!

another fun Michigan-set book from Mara Jacobs! The age difference between the main characters was a bit much (probably because they kept bringing it up...) but i really liked their connection and the plot. very relateable. recommend!

sigh what a nice escape. I was surprised that Mara Jacobs added another to this series but it is more like a second connected series. I'm pleased with that concept and the Beck brothers are a nice addition to the hunky men in Copper Country.

I Loved this series and didn't like this book. I really didn't care for the way that it handled mental illness. I'm so tired of people with major depressive disorder being portrayed as suicidal and unsaveable.

Love reading about familiar places. Shute's or should I say Tootie's. The Ambassador or is it the Comodore? Fun. And the stories are good.

Really great romance with seriously flawed main characters. Mental issues were tactfully yet realistically portrayed.
