5 wonderful stars!!For me Winning the Boss's Heart was a wonderful story about second chances. It had all the right elements that makes for a truly romantic read.

Mason Christian is a man on a mission. He has 12 weeks to renovate a historic house. The problem was, his latest secretary had quit on him. Again. He has to hire another one fast if he has to make the deadline. Enter number 42. And no, that's not her real name. Her name is Wilhelmina "Billie" McCloud and she's going to be his 42 secret

Yeah, he may be one hot tamale on the outside, but she bet old Satan himself was sitting in his heart playing Solitaire.

I fell in love with this book. Hard. I wasn't sure what to expect going into it. Maybe another stereotypical romance where the rich and jaded boss seduces the naive assistant? Well, that's not what I got. Not even close. Let me tell you, the synopsis of this book doesn't even begin to give it justice. It was so much more. I adored everything about it; t

I must say this was a very nice find, thank you very much, Geri for your review this morning. Was lucky enough to visit Haworth over the Easter, where the Brontes lived. Saw the “ruins” of Wuthering Heights, after a long trek over the moors. Love that story.

Mason is a torturned soul.

Billie is great, independent, feisty, lovable.

Loved the description of the property and the town and the folks who lived there.

Mason had perfection. He doesn’t want roots.

Very enjoyable read – first time reading this

This was yet another REALLY good read for me by Hayson Manning.

This story was a fast easy read that hooked me in right away, with the excellent characters and witty banter that had me laughing and smiling all the way through the book. This is where I feel Hayson Mannings true t

WINNING THE BOSS’S HEART by author Hayson Manning is an Entangled Publishing release for October 2013.

Billie McCloud goes to start work for new business tycoon property developer, Mason Christian. But she does not agree to his business practice. He wanted to develop an old heritage site, and she put a stop to it.

He is a demanding boss and rather than remember the assistant’s name, he calls them by numbers. She reciprocates by calling his every name she could think of. Yet sparks fly and they giv

Mason Christian goes through P.A.’s like a child with a pez dispenser … He has hired Billie McLeod as the latest. The only problem is he has flown through so many he doesn’t call them by name anymore … no Billie is labeled and called number forty-two. And so starts a hilarious exchange throughout the book between Mason and Billie.

Mason is driven and work is the only thing he understands anymore. He once had it all, only to suffer a parent’s worst nightmare. After his marriage fell apart, he bec

This is the second book I've read from author Hayson Manning, and while I truly enjoyed her first, Wife in Name Only I have to say I think she's really made some strides since then. Winning the Boss's Heart is a well written, deeply emotional read. Hayson has a very unique writing style, simple and unadorned with flowery phrases. Part of the charm is the authenticity of her characters' dialogue. The story is set in New Zealand, wh

This is the second time I've read this book, and loved it the second time as much as the first time I read it.

This book touched my heart. When Billie first started working for Mason he called her 42. He had 41 assistance walk out on him before Billie came to work for him. He worked long hours and expected his assistants to do the same. Mason worked long hours to keep his night mares at bay. He was grieving the loss of his daughter. A pain that no father should ever have to go through. Billie sa

This was a cute sweet story. But don't let that fool you this book has its sexy moments.

Mason is closed off, he has a past that he is unwilling to let go. So it holds him down he drowns in it but covers his misery with work. He's a hard ass and likes that. He keeps people at arms leng

Touching..... Heartbreaking.... So many emotions in this story....

I was more than pleased to be able to read Hayson Manning's second book Winning the Boss's Heart. This book is so different than her first book Wife in Name Only.

In this book Hayson brings out so many different emotions. This story was touching and heartbreaking at the same time. There were also times I wanted to laugh.

There were some things I really liked about this book and other parts just seemed to keep it from being great.

I liked the heroine Billie she was extremely likeable and had a optimistic attitude through out the book. She only takes a job with Mason in order to get enough money to go back to culinary school and to save the town.

Mason is the typical broody male who doesn't care about anyone else except for himself, or

A novel all about second chances and in Mason's case third and fourth and fifth chances. Billie was a really funny character with some weird quarks that were borderline too weird, but I forgave all that. What I couldn't get past was her continued taking of Mason's utter crap that he kept pouring on her. Yes his background is heartbreaking and I'm sure that would definitely make you not want to ever fall in love again, but his handling of the situation was terribly wrong and I'm not sure I would ...more

I adored this book. I'm a big fan of Hayson Manning's humor and this book was full of laugh out loud moments from the feisty heroine, Billie. I loved her. Paired with the wounded hero, Mason, I couldn't turn the pages quick enough. I really could *feel* the tension radiating off Mason as he fought his attraction to Billie. Equally engaging was Billie's compassion and unselfish desire to help Mason heal from his past. That give and take was written beautifully and watching Mason change put consta ...more

Me likes it, but it had some editing issues, I think. Sometimes it didn't make any sense and I was like lost and didn't know what the hell was going on.
Other than that, it was cool.

I'll admit, I didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I did and I'm so happy for this surprise. This was exactly what I needed because I've been going through quite a wicked reading slump lately. This book has romance, with a steady, realistic, and engaging pace. It also has a bit of drama; a few things happen to Billie that stir the pot and I loved how they were strategically placed throughout the book so I never felt like it was forced. The best part? The dialogue! Oh, I loved when these t ...more

A few months ago I got a chance to read Hayson's debut book Wife in Name Only, I must confess that I thought it was pretty darn good. Now Hayson Manning brings her new book Winning the Boss's Heart. Just like her first book, she still brings the emotional tug, but adds a dash with some lightheartedness.

Mason Christian is an all work and no play kind of guy. He basically lives breathes work. However, that all goes out the window when he hires his 42nd assistant, Billie

It was all supposed to be done in twelve weeks, but Mason Christian's idea of turning something old to new for one of clients didn't end up working well for him. While he promised to keep his private life locked away from anyone near him, he wasn't expecting his new cook/secretary to made him feel again, especially after he made it clear that their contract was strictly work related and nothing else.

With her second book, Winning the Boss's Heart, Hayson Manning took us to her beautiful home country of New Zealand. Set in the bucolic coastal town of Footsteps Bay, Mason Christian hired Billie McLeod to work as his personal assistant on a project he hoped would be completed quickly.

Billie was a heroine who knew her own worth. After suffering some personal setbacks, she was saving money to finish her degree, and working for Mason se

Mason Christian, consummate businessman and cyborg candidate, is desperate to find assistant #42 so he can complete his real estate venture and get the hell out of Dodge. Broken by past tragedies, Mason has shut down emotionally and is on autopilot, living only for the next business deal.

An incredibly entertaining read by Hayson Manning! The intensity between the hero and heroine made this novel truly magnificent! I read this novel in one day, I simply couldn’t put it down! Mason Christian is motivated, determined and strictly professional, until he meets Billie. Billie, or as Mason prefers to call her, Forty-Two, doesn’t cower to the brooding and grouchy manners of Mason. Instead, she manages to see the person deep down. The person who is haunted by ugly demons. As Mason and Bi ...more

This is the story of Billie, who has dreams of going to cooking school, but needs money after nursing her dying ex-husband, and Mason, a grief-stricken man who's shut down everything but work.

Mason employs Billie and immediately calls her "forty-two" because he has no time for remembering names when his assistants don't stay long. Billie, not one to take this easily, begins calling him a range of odd male names which are never the same, and never his own.

This should be an incredibly sad story ab

If you love romance, you’re going to LOVE “Winning the Boss’s Heart.”

Manning takes the tried-and-true, old-school Harlequin strong, silent, tortured alpha hero, turns him into a modern guy, but doesn’t…you know…castrate him. He’s still strong. He’s still on the silent side, but he knows how to express himself, and when he does…Holy Shit! Hold onto your heart and your panties!

Manning walked such a fine line with her hero, Mason, because in a lesser author’s hands, he would be an asshole, but she

Winning the Boss's Heart was a quick, sweet read. Billie just got hired as Mason's 42nd assistant. She needs the job, but she wishes he would have mentioned that he intended to completely remodel and sell the historic house that's the backbone of her town. He kept that to himself until she already signed the 12 week contract. Now Billie needs to stop him from destroying the historic site, put up with his outrageous schedule, and avoid falling in love with the

This book has every element I love in an easy-read romance; passion, intimacy, wit and emotion with characters to fall in love with, a journey that is captivating and in a descriptively beautiful setting.

Property developer Mason Christian is to tact and diplomacy what I am to ballet dancing (I am no ballerina). He's a bossy, driven, stubborn workaholic, but my goodness, is the man sexy. Underneath the harsh exterior is a loveable man hiding his pain and who makes you wish you could delve into th

I need to start by saying that I LOVED Billie. She was so sure of herself and upbeat, even when things were looking down. Her way of turning just about any situation into something just a little more fun by use of only her personality makes her someone I wish I really knew.
