My grandmother passed along a stack of Harlequin Heartwarming romances so I figured I'd do some easy reading. I was not impressed by this book. If I'm going to read a romance story, I'm looking for something believable. I had a hard time with this one because of that reason. It just seemed a little outlandish to me. But then again I suppose romance happens in all sorts of strange/outlandish situations.
I'm not a writer by any means and I probably shouldn't critique too much, but I felt that the

"Hatari", an old John Wayne movie, has always been a favorite. I loved the scene when Elsa Martinelli was trying to run away and hide from John in an African city market, trailed by three baby elephants wreaking havoc. While "Katie's Rescue" doesn't follow the plot of "Hatari", it does evoke its spirit - the love of wild animals and the respect for their very wildness even if they have been rescued and now must live in close proximity to humans. It also has a cast of colorful characters, all wit ...more
This is the first book I read from Pamela Tracy and I loved it. I am an animal love so really enjoy books with animals in them. Katie had a lot to get thru before finally realizing she CAN and LOVED working with exotic animals. With the help of Luke and the gang at Bridget's AZ Animal Adventure (animals included) she was able to dance again. I hope Pamela will write more books about them.
