I downloaded the free version of this and read the first story - then ran out and bought all three of the Womak volumes (a bargain on the Kindle store!). The intricate wordplay is fantastic, the fact that the author doesn't spoon-feed you and expects you to be able to "keep up" with what's going - both refreshing changes from the usual tripe and trope. The incipient madness of the protagonist is fascinating, and I have to agree with one of the other reviewers - shades of Sherlock Holmes, but in ...more

A fresh and creative take on detective stories - Perry's Womak is a delightfully flawed sociopath who offends and astounds, often simultaneously. Comparisons to Holmes come to mind, with both madness and genius amplified. Except Womak could tolerate no Watson.
