Penny Spring's Boston publisher is doing a history of the Comus Krewe, written by a wealthy businessman, and Comus King, from New Orleans. When the publisher and the author both get threatening letters, they ask Penny and her colleague Toby Glendower to come to Mardi Gras and investigate. By the time they get there, John accused of murder, and things go downhill from there.
