- fast read
- fast action scenes
- instant love
- lack of characters development
- failed to disconnect with H & h

Alasss, I don't mind about the last three points. As long as it's a fast read, managed at least to hook with me even for a while - then I am good!

This is the first of this series that I have read, but the story is completely self-contained and utterly engrossing. The new to me vampire qualities and the setting in Norway was both well-defined and beautifully described. Laura Kaye has also inserted Scandinavian words and expressions into the story, providing several interesting word-nerd moments for me: thank you!

Henrik is instantly attracted to Kaira, her blood calls to him in a way that he hasn’t heard in years. From this point forward, t

Henrik Magnusson is dying and not even the virginal blood of the Proffered—human women trained to serve the blood needs of the vampire warrior class—can save him. He needs a blood-match, his mate’s blood.

Kaira Sorensen has CML—Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, a rare, cancerous blood disease. (As an RN, I want to praise Ms. Kaye for the way she handled this medical condition in this book.)

This, the third in the Vampire Warrior King series, stands alongside its predecessors, IN THE SERVICE OF THE KIN

What can I say. O. M. F. G. ******6 amazing stars!!!!!!!**** Laura Kaye has outdone herself with the latest installment of the vampire king book series. Taken by the Vampire king is by far my favorite to date! I absolutely loved the first two. I adore this one. Laura Kaye is able to do this and it leaves me in awe: like Hearts in darkness, she is able to create rich, complex, three-dimensional characters in such a short story. My only complaint, again; I wanted more!!!! I could not put this book ...more

3.5 stars. This is a very quick read and yet another nice addition to this series. Laura Kaye has a way of creating a fascinating Vampire world with very engaging characters. I look forward to more books in this series.

I did enjoy this book, but thought the others in the series were better. A big disappointment for me in this book is that it leads up to the mating ritual, but never actually gets to that part. It made me feel that that was going to be the climax in the book and then it was totally left out!!!

Another good Vampire King book by Laura Kaye. I didn't feel quite as much connection to the characters in Taken by the Vampire King as I did the previous two novels, but it was still a good read.

Oddly enough, with these three stories, I have noticed that I liked the kings' second in command the most. Those guys always seemed to be more playful or funny, more personable, and kind of just more likeable. Which is a little unfortunate because I am all about royal mates.

This story was my least favorite of the three. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't all that great. Didn't really pull me in much. Both Henrik and Kaira are both slowly dying. Though he is an immortal vampire, Henrik has been struck

Laura Kaye's Vampire Warrior Kings novellas are always a quick and satisfying read, and her recent release in the series, Taken by the Vampire King, is no exception.

The only thing that stands between the Soul Eaters and Humans are seven remaining Kings. Strong, capable, and immortal vampire leaders of a group of distinguished warriors. But Henrik Magnusson suffers from a mysterious ailment that is slowly ending his life. Unable to retain the nutrients he needs from the Proffered's, hum

When reading Taken by the Vampire King, the third book in Laura Kaye’s Vampire Warrior King Series, make sure you have AC on and maybe even a fan blowing on you while you read it! This novella is a can’t-put-down read and when I got to the end, I wanted MORE to magically appear…so I started to read it again!
I immediately felt drawn to the young but mature, delicate but strong Kaira. Even her name sounds romantic and her talent to capture auroras, especially violet auroras in her photographs and

TAKEN BY THE VAMPIRE KING is the third novella in Laura Kaye’s paranormal Vampire Warrior Kings series focusing on the remaining seven vampire kings and their need to find a mate. Vampire Kings must feed from the ‘proffered virgins’ and without a suitable ‘donor’ Henrick Magnusson is dying. But the night he stumbles upon Kaira Sorenson he knows he must control his blood lust or lose the only woman capable of bringing him back from the brink of extermination.

Laura Kaye takes the reader

A Dramatic Backdrop! TAKEN BY THE VAMPIRE KING and GIVEAWAY!

It's been great to watch Laura Kaye's writing just get better and better. What started out as sincere but maybe a little awkward has become well-written prose. But, she has maintained her sincerity.

The struggles being faced in TAKEN BY THE VAMPIRE KING are complex and layered, the vampire world is rich and would be difficult to live within, and the characters are fierce and sweet,

Nocturne Cravings is a novella line - all stories are 15-25,000 words. I like that Laura Kaye has made her own series within this line and that each story is independent, but we get a little more information each time about the other kings, and their enemies - the soul eaters. Taken by the King was published in August 2013, so I'm hoping there is a new book coming out soon. :)

There are seven vampire kings remaining in the world, and Book #3 in this series follows the story of King Magnusson of N

If you're looking for quick vampire reads that tug at your heart, consider reading Laura Kaye's Vampire Warrior Kings series. One of the things why I continue to enjoy this series is because each installment takes part in a different part of the world. In Taken by the Vampire King, the reader is transported to beautiful Norway.

I'd give this book 4 giant stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ it was a great, quick and compelling read!

Henrik and Kaira were perfectly matched both in character and by blood type ;) Their story was certainty a heart clenching one too. Henrik was possibly the only vampire ever to get 'sick' and have mad rages as a result of his illness. Kaira also had quite a tragic background. Her parents died when she was a child, leaving her orphaned and soon after that she gets bloody cancer! Talk about bad luck!

Anyway, as with the

Overall: Your sick , well I'm sick too, lets heal each other. That was the main premise of the story and i loved it, but again like the first too I was hoping there was going to be more to the story. The story begins and we find out that Henrik is dying, with no cure in sight. Then in stumbles Kaira with her magic sick blood and she is the only woman in centuries, who's blood has actually healed Henrik. I had a little bit of a problem with how the characters connected in the story becaus

Taken by the Vampire King is a fast paced romantic and emotional love story between Henrik, our Vampire King who is dying of an unknown blood ailment and Kiara, who is dying from Leukemia. Henrick and Kaira. A very short tale about a girl with cancer falling under the spell of a vampire king who is also sick and dying. Henrick kidnaps her after he finds out that her blood has partly healed him when he rescues her from the soul eaters aka 'bad vampires'. The story is pretty sexy and entertaining but I found Henrick to be kinda selfish and full of self pity. Selfish in that they keep talking about how his blood might heal her as well as hers healing him, and I keep waiting for him t ...more

This is by far my favourite in the trilogy. I was very fond of Henrik and Kaira. I think this is the most romantic and sweetest vampire story I have ever read. Although it is a short story, it still worth it but I wish Laura wrote it longer. I wanted to know more why they end it up with their illness.
The story started when Henrik went to Kaira's photo exhibit where Kaira's photography is on it. Their connection is undeniable and become stronger when they both find out that they are both ill and

If you read the first (In the Service of the King) or second book (Seduced by the Vampire King) in the series, then this will seem very familiar to you. It is essentially the same story, this time set in Scandinavia. Interesting use of the northern lights as a backdrop and focal point of the story. I love Laura Kaye books, but this was just too short. It all happened so fast and left me wanting more.

Loved this story. Quick read. Not your typical vampire story. In this one the king is dying. Obviously not normal since they should be immortal however this king is aging and dying. Not a spoiler but the only woman in the story is his mate. Karia is a photographer that's entered a contest in Norway. She photographs the aurora borealis. As she's leaving the event she is attached. (King) Henrik and his men are searching for Soul Eaters. He saves her and learns her blood affects him as well as just ...more

Good quick read, about 72 pages, although I did listen to it on audible. I like to listen to books when the main male character has an accent, especially Scottish or British. Henrik is neither, he is Norwegian, so not as sexy but anyway... I did like the story and I like Henrik and Kaira together. I guess I didn't love it because as soon as I got into it, the book was over. I listened book two, Seduced by the Vampire King, back in November and I rated it a 4. It could been simply because he had ...more

Read pretty much like Seduced By a Vampire King. There is no storyline here other than the King finding his mate. Kaira a photographer, dying of cancer, travels to Norway where she enters a juried photo gallery competition. Of course she is attacked by the Soul Eaters, rescued by the King and in one day falls in love with him. Small peeve...the reader never finds out if she won the competiton. Would knowing this change my rating...no.

I love Laura Kaye's writing style, and was excited to see a n

***SPOILERS****

I finished this book late last night after an exhausting day and felt happy enough to give it 5 stars. However, I awake this morning with some unresolved feelings percolating at the surface: the story ended too soon! What The Hay?!?! No consummation ceremony. No knowledge if Kaira's leukemia will be cured if she takes a bite, herself. Is it her high white blood cell count that's helping or possibly curing Henrick? Is their relationship doomed to be short-lived or will it sustain f

Laura has outdone herself in this installment of the Vampire Warriors. What a great story. The best way I can describe it is two souls looking for means to survive get thrown together by circumstance, and realize they are not only looking for a way to survive, but looking for a place to belong and someone to belong to. These characters are lovable from the start, and you are instantly rooting for them. Wonderful story, great book. My only complaint? It wasn't longer! :-)
