Lord Raynor Was No Match for the Lovely Woman He'd Been Forced to Take to Wife

Though Lady Elizabeth Clayburn was no stranger to the flattery of men, the enigmatic Baron of Warwicke wielded a power over her more potent than anything she had ever felt, and she'd tumbled quickly into a marriage bed, unwarmed by trust or love.

I don't like doing this. DNFing is not common for me, but, I simply couldn't manage this one. It's set in medieval England. For no reason other than it is. You could pick the plot up and deposit it in the more common historical romance periods without any difficulty and that would mean you could avoid all of the utterly nonsensical language issues in this book. Fun quick historical romance, lots of “we are obviously meant to be together, but, man, you are just too stupid and hung up on the past to realize it” situations. Elizabeth is a fun, strong, intelligent (except for her choice of a husband) character

****Spoiler Summary****

Elizabeth meets Raynor, instant attraction, unfortunately he ignores her. She plots, they are accidentally caught in a compromising situation, forced to marry. Raynor's mother used her husband's love to get her way, Raynor
I thought by making a "never read again list of authors" I could eliminate some of the really bad books. Not so. If you like "How dare you! How dare you! You insufferable knave!" or "He had to see that giving of his heart did not mean thralldom." or even "Raynor, Raynor, I want you." Than this is the book for you. Choppy, poorly written, lame characters, and a stupid plot. Other than that, not bad.

Un classico romance ad ambientazione medievale con l'unica variante che i due protagonisti sono già sposati dopo poche pagine...
