This is the first book of 3 or 4 involving the same family. In a Scandalous Mistress we hear how the 3 siblings got their names from Adorna Pickering and Sir Nicholas Rayne.

Sir Nicholas decides to make Arorna his own but she hears over and over of his womanizing reputation. It seems that many of the good looking bachelors at court end up with this reputation, whether it be true or not.

Her father gives his blessing to him but he asks that he is left to pursue her and win her over on his own. Ado
