This was really an outstanding book about Byzantium, its' people, customs and intrigues. It was definitely a page turner, and with the exception of a few hours of sleep, the book was finished in under 18 hours. The pomp and glamour of the Imperial Court was matched only by the scheming of the courtiers - all the way to the top. This made the book fascinating,. Everyone had their own agenda and had ever changing alliances depending on who was in favor with whom. In amongst all this scheming is th...more
I'm not going to lie and say imagining a guy Cheeto colored man with bulging muscles dashing buck naked in a castle like a woods elf isn't funny fun! Cause it is. Sounds like Harlequin doesn't it?
Man enjoying his Cheeto-ness.

Hide the children again. Another one of "those" steamy reviews!

A heady mix of enthralling period detail, meticulous historical research, breathtaking emotional intensity and heart-pounding passion, Chained to the Barbarian is a first-class historical romance from the immensely talented Carol Townend.

Fate had dealt Sir William Bradfer a cruel hand. Once, he had been a man with the world at his feet and a bright future ahead of him, but when he had fallen foul of destiny, William had ended up enslaved, wretched and desperately fighting for survival. Responsib...more
I won this book through a first reads giveaway. The author even signed it :)

I liked this book, but it was a little "light" on the romance. I suppose this is to be expected of the publisher. This might not be
a problem for other readers, but I'm used to reading books with lots of extra steamy sex scenes.

Despite the lack of the sex scenes, this book was very interesting as it was well written and well researched. I learned a lot about the time period.

The characters were well developed and had che...more
This was a great historical read! Set during the time of the Byzantine Empire, the story of Lady Anna and Sir William unfolds amongst the historical turmoil within and outside the Palace walls.
This story was so well researched in terms of its historical accuracy and was very impressive. The characters, both main and background, we're complex, interesting and moved the story along very nicely.
A fabulous historical read.

This was an okay read. I loved the setting but the language was a bit stilted and the editing wasn't very good. There wasn't enough flow in the writing. Seemed rushed.
This was a very boring book. It took forever the read all of it. Didn't get interesting until it was almostver.
absolutely loved it even after reading it a second time. i really like this series
