Good story with plenty of action. Sabrina returns to her place of business early one day only to hear her partner plotting to kill her and blame her for missing funds. As she escapes she grabs a briefcase that contains a couple million dollars. She runs to Dallas, where she lives off the grid, working as a pet and house sitter, until she gets caught in the middle of a murder. The murder victim's dog brings Jake to her as they discover that she was the intended victim. As he learns more of her st...more

I like Harlequin Intrigues. I think that needs to be the first thing addressed as HI's aren't lengthy novels so much as quick escapes into danger, romance and the girl gets her guy stories. Angi Morgan's The Marine's Last Defense ticks all the boxes. It is a fast paced trip into the world of Sabrina Watkins. She is on the run from the people who want her dead, missing the family who thinks she is dead. Her love of animals, and the death of a woman, leads her to meet Homicide Detective Jake Craig...more

Fast paced and danger around every corner, Angi Morgan has given us another story that will keep you turning pages. Her main characters are so well developed, I enjoyed watching the push-pull relationship as they fought to stay alive.

The clock is ticking, and Sabrina must admit that she needs help. People want her dead...her parents think she is dead...and she's never felt so alive as in the arms of an ex-marine who threatens to put her in jail. You'll also get to meet Dallas, a black lab pup w...more

"Morgan launches the volley from the first pages so readers aren't left wondering whodunit, but they'll have to pay attention to the escalating action to keep up with the characters, who are in trouble from the get-go". (RT Book Reviews) rated 4 stars

In Morgan’s romantic intrigue novel, Sabrina Watkins plays dead to escape a killer and get out of Amarillo alive. Now living in Dallas where no one knows her, she is shocked when homicide cop Jake Craig shows up knowing her identity. From the beginning, the former marine is determined to save the hunted brunette and maybe find love as well.

Get Lost in a Story: Angi Morgan & The Marine's Last Defense 5 7 Jan 16, 2014 05:56PM
Angi Morgan writes Intrigues where honor and danger collide with love. She combines actual Texas settings with characters who are in realistic and dangerous situations. Hill Country Holdup went on sale the very night it won the Golden Heart award. HCH was a 2010 Romantic Times First Series Book, a Bookseller's Best First Book & Best Short Contemporary nominee. Her second Intrigue, .38 Caliber...more
