The Cowboy in the Classroom

Given a choice, Luke Hayes wouldn't ever leave his Wyoming ranch. Yet when his estranged grandfather dies, leaving him everything, he'll travel to Valley Falls, New York—but only to collect his sister and his inheritance. He won't be roped into saving a floundering girls' school, no matter what mathematics teacher Elizabeth Wells says.

Whoa. This book was SO good. I didn't expect it at all. I received it for free in the mail after sending a survey, and although I love the cover, it didn't sound that great from the blurb. But it was amazing!!

Luke Hayes has lived his whole life as a rancher in the Teton Valley in Wyoming. He is a cowboy through and through, and loves his life as a rancher on the family estate. When his grandfather Hayes dies, Luke finds himself the unwilling heir to an incredible fortune, and owner of an extreme

Luke Hayes, a Wyoming cowboy of the 1890’s inherits his grandfather’s estate and travels to Albany NY to settle what he discovers are vast holdings—and retrieve his 17-year-old sister. At the fancy boarding school near grandfather’s home, he also meets Elizabeth Wells, her sister’s math instructor who catches his eye. But the financial crash of 1893 and an ill advised editorial has the Hayes Academy in turmoil. Sinister plots and complicated family dynamics swirl around the hero and heroine whil ...more
I was up late last night reading this novel. “The Wyoming Heir” is an exceptionally good, realistic romance featuring two complex leads, Luke and Elizabeth. Because it’s published under the Love Inspired Historical banner, there’s also an inspiring message of obedience to God rather than to men woven throughout the story.

Luke Hayes is a Wyoming rancher of the 1890s with a limited education, but don’t let that fool you into thinking he’s dumb. He’s astute and caring, and he travels from his belov

I’d heard this story was really good – BUT I didn't realize I was in for such a treat!! ‘The Wyoming Heir’ was exceptionally well-written with an unpredictable story-line, a romance that had an undeniable spark, and an inspiring message of obedience to God rather than man, threaded throughout.

Luke leaves his beloved Wyoming Ranch to travel to Valley Falls, New York, to collect his inheritance left by his grandfather and also to bring his sister Samantha home. That was his plan, but things got a

Rawlings has the ability to reduce this reader to a churning mass of emotions and I love it!!!! From an infuriating mother to a taciturn hero and a feisty, stubborn heroine there's angst aplenty. I enjoyed the unusual twist of rancher going east. Plucking Luke out of his comfort zone created a great platform in which to reveal his inner character. Elizabeth's past (and frankly her horrendous family) have made it difficu

I really enjoyed this story. Luke Hayes inherits most everything from his grandfather. Only he has to go to New York from Wyoming to get everything settled. While he's there he needs to convince his sister to return home before their mother dies. Only he's promised his mother that he won't tell his sister that their mother isn't long for this earth.

Luke doesn't plan on meeting Elizabeth Wells, his sisters much loved mathematics teacher. But when he does, it doesn't take long for her to twist hi

This is really you-need-to-find-yourself-a-copy-and-read-it-now good. It has a lot going on without being too busy. Ms. Rawlings really put an amazing thing together, I can only imagine how much research she did. Luke is an awesome person, in part, because of how quickly he assimilated into his newfound position where plenty would either cower in fear or brush the responsibility to someone else. Kudos to him. Other part, how he is is so intuitive about Elizabeth's inner workings...AN ...more

I wavered on this book between wanting to shake the heroine. And the hero. In fact, they annoyed me to no end. And I couldn't wait to see how their story came out.

This is one of the better written Christian romances I've read in a long time. I loved the side characters, I loved how dastardly the bad guys were. And I love how complicated everything got before it could get better. And math. Who doesn't love math?

Highly recommended if you like spunky heroines, a hero that's not perfect, but still a

Disclaimer: I won this book in a drawing from the publisher and did not receive any compensation for my review.
This was a semi-sweet little story, however found it both very predictable and unbelievable. The male character makes a choice that doesn't make any real sense and seems completely fake.
