Elisa and Brett

Cute story. I liked it better once the dating game part ended. It was much more interesting during the times between just Elisa and Brett. Full review to come on Fiction Vixen Book Reviews

What struck me initially about this book was the set-up and my dislike of it. Elisa is a dating coach, owning her own business which is still getting off the ground. She not only plays matchmaker but she really spends a lot of time with her clients to point out what they do right and wrong when it comes to love. She finally lands a Hollywood client, an up and coming actress and is excited to see her business expand. But first she must deal with this actress, Celine and all her drama (drama I got...more

I think I definitely would have liked this book more if we were introduced to Brett (the hero)in a different way. I found it way to hard to believe that a person would blindly follow someone they just met on a weekend vacation. Had Brett and Celine met on the island, that would have been plausible.

I did enjoy the following about Still So Hot:

- The sexual chemistry between Brett and Elisa is palpable. You can feel the tension radiating off the pages between them, both in the current scenes and th...more

Dating coach, trying to move up in the world by taking on a celebrity client. News anchor, trying to clean up his image but feeling inadequate to portray the image of a stable, family man. Celebrity, who's not really interested in being “advised” or coached.

I go back and forth about celebrity-based books. I usually find them a little over the top and frustrating. I often end up feeling like “why did you put yourself in the spotlight if you didn't want people to look at you?”. This book turned ou...more

Kat's staff pick for 2/2/14.

Kat says: Still So Hot! has a fun, romcom premise: a dating coach grabs for the brass ring by landing a celebrity client who could launch her business. The best laid plans are derailed by the presence of a man who broke her heart so many years ago. What are the odds of this happening at so crucial a juncture? Of course, it's a romance, and naturally things get out of hand.

There are moments of great levity and sizzling passion to enjoy. I thought the ending of the seco...more

As I've already written on my March Goals - "Strangers on a Train" made quite an impression on me and ever since then I've been trying to read everything by these 5 authors naturally including Serena.

I really wanted to love this one as I've loved the three novella I've already read by her (Ticket Home / Strangers on a train ; Rescue Me / Free valentine's novella ;After Midnight / Heating up the Holidays bundle) but sadly this one didn't deliver. I'd say it's a nice enough story but I w...more

“This was what she had wanted. Not just all morning, not just since she had first seen him on the plane yesterday, but forever.”

Ok, I’m not a huge fan or Harlequin’s Blaze series, mainly because the ones I’ve read so far are mostly mediocre. Then again, I’m a huge fan of Serena Bell. You know which one tipped the scales on me reading Still So Hot!

So yeah, my arm wasn’t exactly twisted, and Serena graciously sent me an advanced copy of the book, for which I’m now sending back smooches. And this r...more

I know when I open a book by this author it will be fun, romantic and deliciously sexy. Still So Hot was a great escape read for me that had me hooked from the first chapter.

Brett and Elisa were best friends in college. He was a little bit of a ladies man and she harbored a serious crush on him. After a semi drunken kiss that almost became more Brett pulled away leaving Elisa feeling vulnerable and hurt. They haven't spoken since that night and two years later end up on a plane to the caribbean...more

A dating coach, working with a B-list star and putting her thru a “dating boot camp” on a Caribbean Island. Said B-list star happens to bring some random guy she meets, who happens to be dating coach’s ex-best friend, whom dating coach is secretly in love with. When you add all that together, you can expect some clashing of heads and some steamy scenes.

Once I got into the story, I couldn’t put it down. It did take me a couple of chapters to get there, but it was worth it. I really wanted to pop...more

This was my first Harlequin Blaze book so I wasn't sure what to expect from it. But having read Serena Bell before, I knew I was in for a treat! I really enjoyed the premise of this story: dating boot camp, a celebrity, and a blast from the not-so-distant past. I liked Elisa from the get-go and could certainly understand why she fell for Brett in the past. Heck, I understood why she fell for him again! Brett is interesting to me. You don't often see male characters that live their life based on...more

writing is fine technically. but I just didn't care for h. her motivation was off. quit reading mid chapter 7.

I enjoyed this. Hate the manwhore hero, but I liked this because the heroine actually had serious qualms about getting involved with him for just that reason. Usually, they just blindly fall in to it thinking they'll be different.

Serena Bell writes stories about how sex messes with your head, why smart people do stupid things sometimes, and how love can make it all better.

Serena wrote her first steamy romance before she was old enough to understand what all the words meant and has been perfecting the art of hiding pages and screens from curious eyes ever since—a skill that’s particularly useful now that she’s the mother of...more
